Call of Duty: Warzone Demon Guns Return After Latest Update

Call of Duty: Warzone players can’t seem to escape certain bugs and glitches. One in particular has made a return after the recent patches, as the demon gun texture glitch seems to be plaguing players again. This issue has become one of the most infamous in series history, and Call of Duty: Warzone developers just can’t seem to keep it fixed.

The Warzone texture bug, called the demon gun glitch, makes some weapons appear as giant black spiky masses on the player’s screen. This completely blocks the view for anyone holding a weapon affected by this bug. While it was fixed, it eventually returned and forced the studio take take action once more. One player posted the return of the demon gun glitch to Twitter, with many others chiming in with their own encounters with this bug.

The gun glitch spread to corpses for a while, but it looks like that isn’t the case this time around. Luckily, it looks like the bug has returned to its original form of only affecting weapons. The guns affected appear to be random, from guns picked up off the ground to starting weapons in the Gulag. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any way to tell if a weapon will ruin the game for the player until it is picked up.

While this bug is not as game breaking as some recent bugs that literally ended matches, it is still incredibly frustrating for players. When it first appeared, the demon gun glitch was sort of humorous and almost a rite of passage for players to experience for a while. As time went on, it became increasingly frustrating and annoying until it was fixed. Then it returned and was fixed again. By now, players are jumping straight to angry as they face the same bug over and over again.

With recent rumors that Warzone may be heading to mobile soon, this glitch likely predicts a rough launch. If developers have to continue to solve this issue on console—among plenty of other bugs in the game—it doesn’t bode well for players waiting for that game to be on an entirely different platform. Hopefully more of these bugs and issues are solved before the game makes the jump to phones.

For the players that aren’t encountering the demon gun glitch, there is plenty in the game right now in terms of cosmetics to show off. The Combat Pack is still free for PS Plus subscribers until October 1. There are also the new Alex: Death Stalker bundle that includes stealthy and tactical gear, as well as the Tracer Pack Anime Super bundle that shows off fun pink anime accessories. While the gun glitch makes these fairly useless for the player, hopefully it will be fixed again soon—this time permanently.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
