Resident Evil 8 is one of the big horror titles launching for the next generation. Since its initial announcement, numerous Resident Evil fans have been eagerly awaiting additional news in terms of the upcoming game. A new trailer was shown off during the PlayStation 5 showcase and it’s just as unsettling and confusing as the previous trailer.
The trailer opens from the perspective of Ethan Winters, the playable protagonist from the previous game. It shows Ethan being taken away by masked men on the orders of Chris Redfield, which may fall in line with the theory that Redfield may be one of the villains of this game.
As the trailer progresses, it shows a lot of the same sort of imagery and scenery featured in the previous trailer, but is accompanied by a rambling old woman. The bedtime story told in the previous trailer also makes an appearance, presumably told by Ethan’s wife Mia, and accompanied by a small animation that is dissimilar to anything else featured in any other promotional material for the game. The trailer finally ends on a close up of a man smoking and he mentions something about “window shopping.” This could be in reference to the merchant featured in Resident Evil 4.
