Which Outriders Class Should You Play? | Game Rant

Outriders, the upcoming third-person shooter from People Can Fly, is due to be released in Q4 of 2020. The game combines RPG elements with cover-based shooting, and is playable in singleplayer or co-op. Outriders takes place on the planet Enoch, where a planned human colonization has been disrupted by a mysterious energy storm.

At the beginning of the game players will customize their characters, choosing from one of four classes. Each of these classes has a very different playstyle and set of abilities. Whether brawling on the frontline or supporting from a distance, here’s how to pick a class to play in Outriders.

The tough, frontline Devastator is the ultimate pick for players who want to tear into their enemies at close range. Combining powerful earth-based abilities with a reliable self-heal, the Devastator is designed to take punishment as well as dish it out.

The Devastator Class Trait grants a 25% Max Health bonus, and a 30% Armor bonus. In addition, it also grants a 24% Heal every time an enemy dies at close-range. The Devastator’s three sub-classes build on this trait. The Entangler focuses on weapon-damage and armor, the Warden is all about health regeneration and resistance, and the Seismic Shifter enhances earth-based Anomaly powers.

The Pyromancer is a medium-range class with fire abilities, and a great pick for players who like to control the battlefield. A lot of the Pyromancer’s abilities are focused on inflicting status effects on groups of enemies, inhibiting their ability to fight and dealing AoE damage.

The Pyromancer Class Trait grants 15% Max Health bonus, and a 10% Ability Power bonus. In addition, it also grants a 24% Heal each time an enemy marked by the Pyromancer’s skills dies. The three sub-classes of the Pyromancer allow the class to focus on different areas. The Ruler of Ashes is all about combining weapons and Anomaly Power, the Scorcher doubles down on fire-based damage, and the Tempest on applying status effects.

The Trickster is another close-range class, perfect for players who like agile, high-damage characters and hit and run tactics. Unlike the tanky Devastator, the Trickster relies on rapid movement and a damage-mitigating energy shield to survive in frontline combat.

The Trickster Class Trait gives 15% Damage Mitigation when the Shield is active. It addition, it restores 20% of Max Health and 12% Max Shield each time an enemy dies in close-range. As a result, the Trickster is a class for players who like to always be on the offensive, which its three-subclasses reflect. The Master of Space enhances weapon effects at close range, the Harbinger improves the effectiveness of the Shield, and the Assassin is all about destroying enemies with both weapons and powers.

The final Outriders’ class to be revealed, the Technomancer combines long-range gun-play with a variety of versatile gadgets. Perfect for players who like to be able to adapt to each fight, the Technomancer always has a gadget ready.

The Techomancer is the only class that can heal others, making it an invaluable team asset. It balances this by being one of the squishiest classes, relying on long-range and its defensive deployables to stay safe. As a result, the Technomancer isn’t a pure healer, and many of its abilities allow it to summon powerful weapons, including a rocket launcher and minigun.

With all four Outriders classes now revealed, there isn’t much left to be showcased about the game ahead of its Q4 launch. We even know that it will take around 40 hours to beat, and will release without any kind of microtransactions.

Outriders releases holiday 2020 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with a Stadia version in development for 2021.
