The wonderful thing about Nolan North is that everyone who knows his name associates him with something different. Some will imagine him as Assassin’s Creed’s Desmond Miles, others the Batman Arkham series’ villainous Penguin, while there’s likely a number of huge Marvel fans who see him only as Deadpool’s titular merc with a mouth.
More than likely though, the character most envision when Nolan North‘s name is brought up is Uncharted‘s lovably reckless protagonist Nathan Drake. It’s a role North made his own since the debut of Drake’s Fortune back in 2007 and one he recently closed the book on in 2016’s A Thief’s End.
However, fans aren’t ready to let the foolhardy adventurer retire just yet, with many clamoring for Naughty Dog and North to let Nathan Drake have just one more big blockbuster adventure before he finally bows out for good. Surprisingly, it seems North isn’t against the idea at all, even if he firmly believes the series is well and truly done. “I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to move on from him,” the iconic voice actor tells ComicBookMovie.com. “If there were ever a chance they wanted to drag me back out into the mo-cap suit, I’m not gonna lie, I try to keep myself in shape just for that day,” he continues, telling the outlet: “I would always want to continue that role if they ever wanted me back.”
Of course, while Uncharted fans have got excited for a sequel over less in the past, it’s worth clarifying that North is under the impression the series is well and truly done. “I’m satisfied with it if this truly is the end, which I believe it is,” he tells the publication, continuing further in the interview by stating, “I think they wrapped it up pretty well; they put a nice bow on it.” At some point down the line, it might be nice to see Nathan Drake return to the screen with a brand new adventure, but until then, North has a long list of incredible roles lined up that can fill the gap for his biggest fans.
Of course, the actor just took on the role of Iron Man in Marvel’s Avengers, while he caps off his interview by promising something big is on the way as well. “I can also tell you, that there might be another Nathan Drake-type role,” he tells ComicBookMovie.com, proceeding to reveal that he doesn’t “mean a gallivanting adventurer hero, but there may be another great role that isn’t the iconic Iron Man-type character.” Here’s to hoping fans hear more about the mysterious project very soon.
