With the Solstice of Heroes and Iron Banner now wrapped up, Destiny 2 players continue the wait for the upcoming Beyond Light expansion. In the meantime, Bungie continues to tease new details about the expansion, this time giving fans a look at how Ghost Shells are going to be changing. Instead of having predefined perks, Ghost Shells will offer a small power boost as well as customizable mods that can be switched out.
In addition, next week brings the series to Xbox Game Pass, giving subscribers a chance to jump into the game before Beyond Light arrives in less than two months. It’s worth noting that Forsaken and Shadowkeep won’t be available when Destiny 2 is. Instead, players will need to wait a couple of hours in order for hotfix 2.9.2.1 to arrive which will bring them online for Game Pass users. From there, they, along with all other Destiny 2 users will be able to partake in a new and special quest, honoring a former member of the team who recently passed.
Until then, the Destiny 2 exotic merchant Xur is back inside the game once more for the next few days. Follow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of September 18, 2020.
Over the next few days, Xur can be found hanging out in his cave within Giant’s Scar on Io.
Once loaded in, immediately head through the building into the area with the large drill in the center. Head left through the gate and follow the edges of the zone to the top left corner of the map where Xur is hiding in a cave.
Keep in mind that Xur is no longer selling collection rolled gear, a welcomed change of pace from the past few years. The armor he now has features randomized stats and perks, which should revitalize player interest in what the merchant has each week. In addition, players can use an Exotic Cypher to purchase a second fated engram from the merchant.
Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:
Apotheosis Veil – Warlock helm
the Apotheosis Veil is a solid support exotic that isn’t dependent on subclass. It comes with the exotic perk Insatiable, which immediately regenerates the player’s health, melee, grenade, and rift energy when activating their super. Nearby allies also recharge class abilities faster as well.
It’s likely not great in all situations, but it could come in handy when playing difficult activities or even in competitive PvP modes. It may not replace the standard go to exotics, but could be worth a look for some players. While it has the highest stat roll of all three exotics, the very low intellect may be a red flag for players even with the massive boost to discipline.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +14
- Resilience +8
- Recovery +10
- Discipline +20
- Intellect +2
- Strength +9
Young Ahamkara Spine – Hunter gauntlets
Back again after about a month is the Young Ahamkara’s Spine. As such, not much has changed. Since then, not much has changed. A neutral class exotic, it really only benefits players who enjoy using tripmine grenades. It comes with an exotic perk called Wish-Dragon Teeth, which increases tripmine grenade duration and blast radius. Better yet, any damage done with the ability returns bonus tripmine grenade energy.
Again, the perk can be useful but overall, the exotic gear isn’t valued as highly as some other Hunter gear. It’s hard to recommend this week but under the right circumstances, these gauntlets can really come in handy.
Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +13
- Resilience +10
- Recovery +8
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +13
- Strength +14
Wormgod Caress – Titan gauntlets
Wormgod Caress, an exotic that has been on Bungie’s hit list earlier this year due to a bug making it much stronger than intended, is back in stock with Xur. The bug impacted the exotic perk on this gear known as Burning Fists which increases melee damage after each melee kill. The effect was always intended to be on a timer, allowing players to stack damage for a set time, but the bug actually let players retain the buff permanently.
Even with the glitch having been eradicated, Wormgod Caress may not be the best exotic gear out there for Titans. Still, under the right circumstances, it can be beneficial and is worth a look for those interested.
Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +6
- Resilience +8
- Recovery +17
- Discipline +9
- Intellect +10
- Strength +10
This weekend, players can grab the Riskrunner submachine gun. Featuring the Arc Conductor perk, it gives the weapon a damage boost when the player is taking arc damage. Not only that, when the perk is active, it reduced the incoming arc damage to the player and any kills extend the perks duration. It’s secondary perk has a chance to turn fired bullets into chain lightning and return ammo when Arc Conductor is active.
Considering it’s an original Destiny 2 exotic, players have likely already found how valuable this weapon can be, especially for missions that feature a lot of arc damage like the Inverted Spire strike. What’s not so great is that the Riskrunner is a quest reward so it’s quite likely that most players already have it. For those that don’t have it for some reason, it’s worth getting.
Additional perks:
- Arrowhead Brake
- Extended Mag
- Short-Action Stock
Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for September 18, 2020:
- Apotheosis Veil (Warlock helm) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Young Ahamkara’s Spine (Hunter gunatlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Wormgod Caress (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Riskrunner (Arc submachine gun) – 29 Legendary Shards
- Fated Engram – 97 Legendary Shards
- Five of Swords Challenge Card
Destiny 2 Shadowkeep is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
