At the PAX x EGX Digital online event, NIS America revealed some of their lineup for 2021 including details on a new game their team is localizing for western markets. This showcase comes on the heels of NIS America’s flagship franchise Disgaea appearing in the recent Nintendo Direct Mini. Now NIS America is adding a few more titles to the mix.
Over the course of the hour long panel, the NIS America team took time to lay out what kind of year 2021 will be for the company.
・The previously announced Trails of Cold Steel 4 was featured, with a release date of October 27th of this year for the PS4 version, with the Switch and PC versions slipping into 2021.
・The next chapter in the long-running franchise, Ys, is on the way with Ys 9: Monstrum Nox arriving on Playstation 4 on February 2nd, and a summer 2021 release planned for Switch and PC. The niche title is running a fan poll to determine the box art for Ys 9.
・Fallen Legion: Revenants is an action-based sidescrolling RPG with an art style similar to Vanillaware’s games on its way to PS4 and Switch sometime in 2021.
・Saviors of Sapphire Wings & Stranger of Sword City: Revisited are a pair of dungeon-crawling RPGs that are re-releases of PS Vita titles. They ship together for PC & Switch in 2021.
The big reveal during the information panel was the announcement that the game Poison Control is making its way over to Switch and PS4 in early 2021. In what NIS America is calling a “turf war-style action-RPG” the game features an unnamed protagonist who is tasked with purifying spirit realms known as “Belles’ Hells.” The Belles’ Hells are manifestations of the desires and delusions of unfortunate individuals, crawling with enemies known as Kleshas.
The game has embraced a fully anime style, with at least a passing similarity to the art of the iconic Persona franchise. With it being a new reveal for NIS America, the panel dove into gameplay showing off some of the mechanics of the game. The battle system has some depth to it, and the game looks to feature a number of cute anime girls for the protagonist to help. This game is being developed by Nippon Ichi Software itself (NIS America being a branch of Nippon Ichi Software), so fans of the company’s work should find a lot to like here.
Poison Control releases on Nintendo Switch and PS4 in early 2021.
