Fallout 4: 10 Pro-Tips For Farming Ballistic Fibers | Game Rant

Fallout 4 is a massive departure for the Fallout franchise both in story and gameplay. Players scavenge the Commonwealth for junk items to build settlements and upgrade their gear. Crafting is pivotal to exploring all of the content the game has to offer, but obtaining the resources for crafting isn’t always easy.

One of the rarest materials in Fallout 4 is ballistic fibers. This resource only comes from military grade duct tape and military ammo bags, both of which are rare finds in the Wasteland. Fortunately, there are quite a few ways of stumbling across this resource, whether that would be from NPCs or farming locations. Here are 10 pro-tips for farming ballistic fibers in Fallout 4.

10 Purchase Shipments

Before players decide to spend hours grinding for ballistic fibers, make sure that no NPCs have shipments of the resource available for purchase. Shipments are bundles of a particular resource that can be delivered to any settlement.

Proctor Teagan, KLEO, and Lucas Miller usually have ballistic fiber shipments available. Alexis Combes in Vault 81 can also sell ballistic fiber shipments at a much less frequent rate.

9 Talk To KL-E-0

KL-E-0 is the NPC every player should talk to before farming ballistic fibers. She can be found in Goodneighbor in her store called Kill or be Killed.

Every player in the game can access this merchant regardless of faction affiliation. KL-E-o frequently has ballistic fiber junk to sell. If she doesn’t, players should wait 48 in-game hours so she can refresh her stock.

8 Talk To Lucas Miller

Lucas Miller is a wandering caravan merchant that frequents Bunker Hill and Covenant. Players that come across Lucas on their travels should talk to him and see if he has any ballistic fibers.

Lucas usually has a shipment available for purchase, although his wandering nature makes this merchant somewhat hard to find. He can also travel to Tenpines Bluff, Outpost Zimonja, and Greentop Nursery.

7 Talk To Proctor Teagan

Members of the Brotherhood of Steel have an additional merchant that frequently sells ballistic fibers. Proctor Teagan is the quartermaster on the Prydwen that usually has ballistic fiber junk or shipments.

Most players should be able to reach the Prydwen by completing a few quests for the Brotherhood, but do note that reaching the end of Fallout 4’s campaign will lock players into one faction. If they do not side with the Brotherhood, players will be unable to barter with Teagan since the Prydwen will be hostile.

6 Purchase Ballistic Weave From Tinker Tom

Railroad members can obtain a large number of ballistic fibers by talking to Tinker Tom at their HQ. Once players progress far enough in the story and assist the Railroad, they will unlock the ability to craft the ballistic weave armor mod. Tinker Tom will frequently sell attire with this mod installed.

As long as players have the Scrapper perk at rank two, they will be able to obtain ballistic fibers from these items upon dismantling them. To maximize this strategy, obtain Scrapper rank three to double the number of ballistic fibers per scrapped item.

5 Pine Crest Cavern Farm

Military ammo bags are one item that grants ballistic fibers. For players that do not own the Far Harbor DLC, the best farm for this item is at Pine Crest Cavern. Before entering the inside of the fort proper, look for a box outside of one of the houses.

It will always have a military ammo bag on top of it. Grab the item, fast travel to another location, wait anywhere from three to seven in-game days, then return to repeat the process.

4 Vault 114 Farm

Miltary grade duct tape is the only other junk item in Fallout 4 that grants ballistic fibers. A good farm for military grade duct tape can be found in Vault 114, the same Vault that players rescue Nick Valentine from.

Head to the northeast part of the Vault and look for a janitor’s closet. Inside of this closet will be a few rolls of military grade duct tape. Exit the Vault, fast travel to a location, wait for three to seven in-game days, then return to repeat the process.

3 RobCo Sales & Service Center Farm

The Automatron DLC introduced a great farm for ballistic fibers. Inside of the RobCo sales & service center building lies a storage room with four military ammo bags. They can be found behind a master-level lock.

Grab the bags, exit the building, fast travel to another location, wait up to a week in-game time, then return to repeat the process.

2 Haddock Cove Farm

Far Harbor’s Haddock Cove contains a solid amount of ballistic fibers for players to find. Once at the location, look for a weapons workbench inside one of the floating sheds.

Next to the workbench will be a couple of shelves with plenty of ballistic fiber items. As with other locations, leave, wait, and return to keep farming the resource. This is a place to definitely keep in mind when farming ballistic fibers.

1 Cranberry Island Supply Shed Farm

Cranberry Island’s supply shed is not only a great source of ballistic fibers, but it is also one of the best resource farms in the entire game. This shed has plenty of scarce resources in large supply and, like most areas, can be reset by waiting a few days.

To unlock the supply shed, players must activate all three generators near the shed to obtain a key. Inside will house plenty of rare materials such as ballistic fibers, aluminum, fiber optics, and oil.
