Nolan North Wants a Deadpool Game Sequel With Ryan Reynolds Cameo

Plenty of Marvel heroes are in the spotlight as of late thanks to Marvel’s Avengers launching earlier this month. However, Iron Man’s voice in Marvel’s Avengers, Nolan North, is bringing some more attention to Deadpool, who is currently absent from the playable roster of Marvel’s Avengers.

For those who don’t know, North actually provided the voice for Deadpool in the 2013 Deadpool video game on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Speaking in a recent interview, it seems that Nolan North is actively interested in a sequel to the 2013 Deadpool title, and this time, featuring a cameo from Ryan Reynolds.

It’s been quite some time since the Merc with a Mouth starred in his own original game. Though Deadpool recently made an appearance in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3, he hasn’t been the focus of a video game for around eight years or so. The Deadpool video game was announced all the way back in 2012 and was eventually released in 2013. The game received fairly positive reception, with many fans and critics praising Nolan North’s portrayal of the iconic red and black-clad katana wielding antihero.

Apparently, Nolan North loved voicing Deadpool and is actively interested in seeing a sequel to the 2013 game come to fruition. In a recent interview with ComicBookMovie.com’s Josh Wilding, North said, “I’m trying to get Marvel to do another Deadpool video game, and we could have Ryan come on and do a cameo in the video game.” As many readers probably know, Ryan Reynolds portrayed Deadpool in the 2016 and 2018 films Deadpool and Deadpool 2. Needless to say, getting Reynolds to cameo in a hypothetical sequel to the Deadpool game would be an amazing crossover for fans of the character.

The topic came about when North was asked about his time voicing Deadpool for the 2013 game. During the interview North said that Reynolds was actually a fan of North’s portrayal of the character, giving the actor “high praise” for his performance throughout the game. North even spoke to Reynolds through social media direct messaging saying “You’ve made me cooler to my kids than I’ve ever been.” Of course, Deadpool has had skins in Fortnite and been involved in other Marvel games and properties over the years, but the 2013 Deadpool game really stands out above the rest.

Hopefully, North is actually able to get through to Marvel when advocating for a sequel to Deadpool. Unfortunately, it might be a tough proposition for North to make, as Deadpool’s creator thinks another movie is unlikely to be made, despite the first two films being received incredibly well. Rob Leifeld is a bit apprehensive of Marvel’s current plans for Deadpool now that the rights have been acquired by Disney, so a potential sequel would be incredibly far off regardless. Hopefully, Nolan North will have more success in his campaign for a sequel to 2013’s Deadpool.

Deadpool is available for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One.
