Ubisoft Reveals PS5 Release Dates for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion

Ubisoft has two pretty significant games coming this holiday season, with Watchdogs: Legion hitting current-gen hardware on October 29 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla doing the same on November 10. Both games stand as some of this Christmas’ biggest blockbusters, with Ubisoft spending a lot of time reinforcing why players should revisit both franchises through its Forward showcase.

However, fans weren’t aware of exactly when the titles would launch on PS5, yet, thanks to Ubisoft, they finally have a firm date. According to the publisher’s storefront, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will arrive a few days after its normal release on November 12, while Watch Dogs Legion will arrive at the slightly later date of November 24.

With the PlayStation 5 dropping on November 12, it’s clear both games will be a huge part of Sony’s upcoming launch lineup, offering two hugely expansive experiences available in 4K. It’ll be interesting to see how the pair compare to their current-generation counterparts as well, with the Series X and PS5 both offering next level SSDs, which will make for unprecedentedly short loading times.

For those who haven’t been following the next entries in both the Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed series’, the pair look to be two of Ubisoft’s most ambitious projects to date. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla sees players travel back to the Viking-era, taking on the role of Eivor, a fearless clan leader who looks to protect their people as they travel to England. Combat follows the more RPG-heavy lead taken by Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey, while the title will also integrate a new raiding feature with AI partners and bring stealth back to the series. It seems the game will be a fun continuation of the long-running franchise with some new bells and whistles to boot.

Watchdogs Legion, on the other hand, is the first return to the series in four years. It sees players taking on the role of a team of rebellious freedom fighters looking to take back a military-controlled London, with the core gameplay mechanic allowing any NPC to become a playable member of the team. These recruits will each come with their own sets of skills, perks, and abilities, such as flyable drones, killer spider robots, and more depending on their occupation and background. It looks to be a meaningful shake-up for the Watch Dog franchise, which has been criticized before for failing to cover much new ground.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be available on November 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, while it will be available on November 12 for PlayStation 5.
