Spider-Man PS5 Remaster Confirms Disappointing Details

Following the reveal of Spider-Man: Miles Morales gameplay footage, and by extension, the remastered PS5 version of Spider-Man, many in the gaming community became incredibly excited for the game’s release. Since that time, Insomniac Games has continued to promote the game via its social media platforms. Though, when asked about whether the PS5 version of Spider-Man would possess certain quality of life features, the studio gave a rather disappointing response.

During the recent PS5 showcase, it was revealed that Miles Morales would have an ultimate edition, which includes an updated, remastered version of the original Spider-Man game previously released exclusively on PS4. For fans who did not own a PS4, but are looking to purchase a PS5, this will give them the opportunity to experience the original game for the first time. Though, when asked about certain details, Insomniac had some bad news.

One user inquired on Twitter as to whether or not there the remaster would be getting a physical release, to which Insomniac replied saying that there are no plans for a physical release. It seems that the remaster will only come included with the ultimate edition of Miles Morales, along with additional Spider-Suits exclusively for the ultimate edition. However, the bad news did not stop there, unfortunately.

Insomniac also confirmed that there would be no way for players to transfer over their save data from the PS4 version of the game to the PS5 remaster. So, those who have already bought the game who are looking to buy the remastered version would have to start all the way from the beginning. For those particular fans, it might be better to not buy the ultimate edition or purchase Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS4.

In any case, while this is bad news for many in the gaming community, it sort of makes sense, given that the remaster is only included in the ultimate edition of Miles Morales. Though, it is nice that the developers will allow players to take on the Tinkerer on PS4 as well as PS5.

Ultimately, players will be able to experience or re-experience Spider-Man however they choose, but the lack of these sorts of quality of life features will be sure to irritate some players, along with how large the game file size of the PS5 version of Miles Morales will be. With any luck, the level of quality and enjoyment to be had in terms of Spider-Man: Miles Morales will hopefully make up for these inconveniences.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to launch on November 12th, 2020.
