Although World of Warcraft players are always dealing with apocalyptic threats, they still have time to celebrate the various holidays in-game. Even with Shadowlands’ imminent release in October, there’s time for another seasonal event before everyone heads into the afterlife. From September 20th to October 6th, players can celebrate the annual Brewfest across all of Azeroth.
Based off the real life Oktoberfest, Brewfest was added during The Burning Crusade and consisted of celebrating with drinks while foiling the Dark Iron dwarves’ attempts to ruin the festival. Over a decade later, Brewfest was updated and expanded during 2019 since the Dark Iron clan became an allied race in Battle for Azeroth. Now the revamped version has returned for another run in 2020 filled with quests, activities, and many rewards.
To join the festivities, Alliance players need to head over to Ironforge while Horde characters must go to Orgrimmar. The areas outside both cities have been turned into a staging ground for the event filled with different Warcraft races depending on faction. Additionally, everyday at 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, being present for the Ceremonial Keg Tapping will grant all nearby characters a 10-percent EXP buff that lasts for 2 hours even through death. This does stack with the currently active 100-percent bonus experience event, so players can level their alts even faster than usual.
By participating in the event, players will earn Brewfest Tokens each day that can be used to buy various toys, pets, and transmog items. After completing several introduction questlines, there are 4 daily ways to acquire more tokens. The first daily quest involves visiting several areas of the nearby capital city within 4 minutes while riding a ram WoW mount and awards 15 tokens. Furthermore, invading groups of Hozen, Alementals, or rogue Dark Iron dwarves will attack every half hour. Successfully repelling them will leave behind a quest item that can be redeemed for 10 tokens.
Additionally, the third daily has players transporting kegs of brew between 2 points on a ram mount. The ram moves at a slow pace, but can be made to go faster by using the ‘Ram Racing Reins’ extra action button. However, pushing the ram too hard will slow its movement to a crawl. Let the ram rest for a few seconds to drop its fatigue or cross one of the strategically placed apple barrels to completely reset to zero. Once the quest is accepted, World of Warcraft players have 4 minutes to move as much brew as they can and each successful turn-in rewards 2 tokens and 30 more seconds on the ram.
One final way to get daily tokens is queuing for the special dungeon encounter against Coren Direbrew. The fight against Direbrew plus his cronies is very simple and his first defeat will drop a ‘Direbrew’s Dire Brew’ quest item that can be turned in one time for 40 tokens. The first completion each day also gives gold, a sizable EXP reward for non-max level characters, and a Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest. The treasure chest contains between 10-15 tokens but may also contain ‘Direbrew’s Remote’ which offers direct teleportation to Blackrock Mountain. Very rarely, the chest also holds a special Brewfest Ram or Kodo mount that also grants the ‘A Brew-FAST Mount’ achievement when learned by players.
World of Warcraft is available on PC. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will release on October 26th/27th worldwide.
