With October on the horizon, many horror games are likely to be released this fall. Among these games is a remake of the 2012 indie horror RPG Mad Father.
This new remake will be released for both Steam and Nintendo Switch at a currently unknown date, making it the first time the game has ever been released on console. It will have completely updated graphics from all other versions, as well as a new special mode.
When Mad Father was first released, it gained popularity through a variety of Let’s Players on YouTube from prominent content creators such as PewDiePie and Markiplier. It was developed by Sen in Wolf RPG Editor, and has players control an 11-year-old girl named Aya.
Despite the fact that players control a small child, Mad Father doesn’t stray from utilizing horrifying visuals and setting up multiple unfortunate ways to die. Players need to guide Aya as she journeys through her home after it has been taken over by reanimated corpses of the dead. While trying to find Aya’s father for help, players will also unravel a mystery much deeper than what they may have assumed from the outset.
This remake will include a new gameplay mode known as “BLOOD Mode,” which is said to change the scenario for a second playthrough. It is unknown if this means that there will be more endings than the initial three, or if it will simply change around puzzles and enemies to create a unique experience.
Mad Father will be released for PC and the Nintendo Switch in fall 2020.
