Red Dead Player Has Great Idea for Handling Fist Fights Online

Rockstar’s latest addition to its domination over open-world, online titles, Red Dead Online, has seen massive improvements since it first launched as a beta before the game was even available on PC. However, some patches have removed Red Dead Online players’ favorite features, which is why some fans have been attempting to reach out and request some updates to enhance the online experience.

Recently Reddit user juneakajun has taken to the Red Dead Online subreddit in order to not just air some grievances, but offer a solution for some of the more disappointing aspects of interacting with other players online. Specifically, the poster is looking at the way that every interaction with random players ends with either politely walking away from each other, or one of the players dying being the much more likely option.

The suggestion made in juneakajun’s post is that Rockstar should add a new mechanic to fist fighting, for when players decide they want to draw out combat a bit more by forgoing their guns. Ideally, this change would make it so that hand-to-hand combat would leave players in an unconscious state, as opposed to killing them when they are beaten with an unarmed attack. Not only would this avoid the fairly unrealistic outcome of leaving a trail of dead bodies in Red Dead Online with nothing but a pair of fists, but add a new dynamic to how players interact with each other online.

As pointed out by juneakajun, this could change how Red Dead Online‘s bounties function, specifically related to being able to claim player bounties alive. The dynamic of a number of other types of encounters could also change, with players being able to reenter hand-to-hand combat encounters much more fluidly, as well as being able to get up and run after being ambushed. This wouldn’t necessarily fix every issue that players have with the game, most of them being with other people online, but it could go a long way towards changing up how players can interact with each other.

Some fans have also thrown in their own ideas of how to best utilize this mechanic, which could be applied to making anything from Fight Clubs to enhancing existing player made activities like Red Dead Online‘s original sport pigby. This could also be the first step towards some more passive settings that players have been asking for since the online content’s beta first launched. Rockstar may never add the passive servers that more docile players are looking for, but giving them options of non-lethal fists, or maybe rubberized firearms, could mitigate some player frustrations.

Red Dead Online is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
