Battle Royale games like Fortnite have skyrocketed in popularity in the past few years. Fortnite alone has become one of the most popular games to be created in the past decade with millions of players and increasing each day. Fall Guys recently joined other battle royales with its recent release.
Battle royales like Fortnite have overshadowed others in their fight for victory, leaving other good battle royale games in the dust. They may not be Fall Guys, but these battle royales are just as fun.
10 Realm Royale
Realm Royale had a decent run in 2018 before seeming to disappear off the face of the Earth. It’s been dubbed as “fantasy royale” because of its crazy use of weaponry, abilities, and general look of the game. In it, you have the capability to polymorph other players into chickens, craft weapons at a forge, and even use special abilities to gain the upper hand. Despite being similar to Fortnite, Realm Royale never took off into the stratosphere. It is still worth a try.
9 Nuclear Winter
To be honest, Fallout 76: Nuclear Winter isn’t bad. It works in the context that Bethesda provides. Players are being tested by a supercomputer, among other overseer hopefuls. You have access to many of the weapons from the main game, with the exception of named guns, and almost all of the armors. It’s all necessary to be the last team standing. It’s not worth buying Fallout 76 over, but it’s worth a revisit for those who own it.
8 Stand Out: Vr Battle Royale
Stand Out had its time with a short streak of popularity that didn’t stand the test of time. It is fairly similar to PlayUnknown’s Battlegrounds. It doesn’t focus on any crazy gimmicks but instead focuses on regular warfare. What made it fall short was the constant problems players had while in-game. There were reports of players being able to shoot through walls, players being invisible, and graphical errors. Despite its problems, it still has a positive rating on Steam– though the player base is dwindling.
7 Dying Light: Bad Blood
Surprisingly, Dying Light’s battle royale never really took off like hopeful players thought it would. It had a bit of a following that ultimately ended up fading away. The game works differently than most battle royales. Players are dropped into a zombie-infested city with the goal of collecting blood samples from zombies.
The first player to extract enough samples and reach the chopper is the winner. The zombie hives range in difficulty, but if players manage to overcome them and get the samples required, they are marked as hunted. Other players will then be tasked to hunt them down and collect their samples.
6 Rapture Rejects
Rapture Rejects hasn’t gained any popularity despite its creators being the famous Cyanide & Happiness group. Rapture Rejects focuses on the people who didn’t get into Heaven. God has given a second chance in the form of a one-way ticket into Heaven, but only one person can get it. This leads to mayhem and murder as you try to kill everyone else to get your ticket into the afterlife. It is filled with hilarious weapons and crazy cartoon characters.
5 Radical Heights
Radical Heights came and went just like the 80’s era that the game is based on. With neon lights, arcades, and gun vending machines, this battle royale stood apart from others. It is based on a game show, and as such, players compete for the top prize by killing one another. This game reached early access back in 2018 but didn’t last long against others in the genre. Whenever players would die in Radical Heights, they would drop money in that other players could use at vending machines to get weapons and items that they needed. It had some interesting new ideas, which makes it all the more unfortunate that it failed.
4 Totally Accurate Battlegrounds
Landfall Games is known for creating Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, but not known for creating another failed battle royale, Totally Accurate Battlegrounds. That doesn’t mean that it’s bad, it just didn’t have the rise in popularity that other battle royales have received. Created back in 2018, it is similar to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Some might say that it is a satirical version of the game based on physics that ragdoll the player whenever they are struck or fire a weapon with high recoil.
3 Cuisine Royale
Cuisine Royale has managed to stay under the radar with more and more people discovering it each day. It may end up becoming popular in the future, but for now, it still pales in comparison to the battle royale tyrants like Apex Legends. This battle royale has been dubbed the “craziest battle royale yet” by its creators and there is a reason for that.
This game is filled with everything from special abilities to the zombie apocalypse. This is a game where pots and pans make viable armor and a character can run around like a wolfman while another turns invisible.
2 Battlefield V: Firestorm
The Firestorm game mode for Battlefield V was pretty popular at launch but didn’t captivate audiences like other games in the genre. It stands out due to its gameplay and the company’s knowledge of game modes with larger populations. Despite it running smoothly, reports now state that Firestorm is almost dead and overshadowed by other battle royales like Call of Duty’s Warzone. In this battle royale, a massive fire is burning down the area that you play in and you must escape.
1 Hunt: Showdown
Hunt: Showdown is still working hard to gain popularity. The developers have updated the game and added new hunters to play as. This game incorporates demons into the showdown and tasks players with hunting them while avoiding other players in the process. You have access to some cool abilities and magic that help set it apart from others in the genre. Plus, it is set in the 1800’s bayou which is always interesting.
