Destiny 2’s Upcoming Festival of the Lost Armor Might be the Game’s Best Looking Yet

The Festival for the Lost, a Halloween-themed event for Destiny 2, is coming in less than a month and will last through the end of October and into early November. This year’s Festival of the Lost is embracing a horror theme that has many players excited for the annual spooky festivities, which according to one user, will be represented through the various classes’ armor.

The events in Destiny 2 provide some of the most interesting gameplay all year, although fans say Bungie is hit or miss in executing some events like 2020’s Solstice of Heroes. Regardless, this is often a time that Bungie leans into thematic armor and weapons, and this year classic horror monsters are serving as major inspiration.

Reddit user Cap_Can accessed a wealth of images by turning off “hide invisible collection items” on the Braytech Destiny 2 fan site, then navigating to Collections, Armor, and Universal Ornaments. There, the user found a Lycanthrope set for the Hunter class, referencing werewolves, a Daywalker set for the Warlocks, representing vampires, and a Promethean set for the Titans, representing Frankenstein’s monster.

The sets include several items for each class, including a cloak and mask for Hunters, robes and boots for Warlocks, and gauntlets and greaves for Titans. There’s also some interesting new masks, like a Bubbling Mask that looks like a cauldron full of green goo, and a Variks Mask just in time for the fan-favorite character to come to Destiny 2 in early November.

The comments in the Reddit thread are largely enthusiastic, and a bunch of people are excited about the Warlock robes, which are black-and-white and come with a cravat that looks like a character out of an iconic Dracula game or movie. Some people are less than happy about the asymmetrical designs that have shown up in a lot of new armor, not just for this event, although people are split about the interestingly-placed canister on the Hunter’s mask.

Although some people are underwhelmed by the Titan’s armor, the vampiric Warlock is proving to be a big hit among fans, and while the Hunter’s werewolf getup is divisive, those who like it are pretty vocal about it. There’s a clear theme and unity to these designs, which really seems to be serving Bungie well by giving it a guiding set of inspiration to draw from. It’s clear to see what a lot of the armor is meant to represent, and whether fans appreciate the aesthetic, at least they don’t have to guess at what the theme is supposed to be.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
