Rumored Halo Infinite Release Dates Quashed by 343 | Game Rant

With the release of the Xbox Series X and S nearing, one game continues to be a topic of focus. Halo Infinite, originally an Xbox Series X and S launch title, was delayed in August. Despite that delay, Xbox fans continue to view it as the next-gen platform’s biggest upcoming exclusive. That’s likely why there’s been a wave of rumors lately speculating about Halo Infinite‘s new release date. 343 Industries, hoping to avoid unrealistic expectations, is now making an effort to quash those rumors.

In a message on Twitter, 343 Industries community director Brian Jarrard made a very clear statement. Internally at 343 there is no confirmed release date. In other words, if 343 doesn’t even have a release date locked down, then there’s no way for any leak or rumor to be accurate. They’ve either been made up or are sourced from inaccurate information. No Halo Infinite release date rumors are reliable, according to 343 Industries.

Likely in reference to the most popular and widespread of the rumors, Jarrard then adds that, “Anything you see on a retail site is just placeholder / speculation.” He’s probably referring to the official Xbox One X page on Amazon’s website. In late August, the landing page had a new release window for Halo Infinite added. It said that Halo Infinite would arrive holiday 2021, implying a delay of a full year. Jarrard’s Twitter statement appears to make clear that this retail listing was false.

What Xbox fans can trust is that Halo Infinite‘s developers remain hard at work. If 343’s plans were simple, Halo Infinite would have received a short delay with an immediately available new release date. That it didn’t receive a new release date implies that the work to be done on Halo Infinite is more substantial in scope. As such, the release date is dependent on when 343 feels like it has accomplished its goals. It’ll be released when it’s ready and not before.

343 is all but guaranteed to have a general idea of when it thinks the game will be ready, of course. Halo Infinite is much too big of a game not to have a big plan around it. There are marketing partnerships and development partners who all depend on strict schedules. The fact that those don’t seem to be in place yet could imply that Halo Infinite‘s release is further out some fans may want to hear.

The good news for fans is that 343 has been extremely communicative since the delay. When 343 has news, it will share it. And then fans can look forward to the version of Halo Infinite that 343 wanted to deliver and nothing less.

Halo Infinite is in development for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S.
