Each week seems to bring new information about the highly anticipated Destiny 2 expansion Beyond Light. Previously, fans got to know more about the newest element type, Stasis, and what that means for the new subclasses. This week, Bungie provided fans a better look at the latest destination of Europa. The desolate and icy moon of Jupiter also has a few surprises in store for players including dynamic weather systems, which can change the look and feel of the world in a moment’s notice.
Outside of new game mechanics, Bungie also revealed that it has made numerous changes and enhancements behind the scenes. Along with content being retired into the Destiny Content Vault, Bungie has also managed to better streamline and removing unused/cut content from the game. All in all, these changes are going to reduce the overall file size of the game by 30-40%, allow the company to push content faster, as well as better allow the studio to react to feedback from previous seasons.
Until the next reveal, the weekend merchant Xur has once again arrived in Destiny 2 with more exotic merchandise for players to check out. Follow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of September 25, 2020.
This weekend, players can track Xur back inside of the European Dead Zone in his usual spot overlooking the Winding Cove.
Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.
Keep in mind that Xur is no longer selling collection rolled gear, a welcomed change of pace from the past few years. The armor he now has features randomized stats and perks, which should revitalize player interest in what the merchant has each week. In addition, players can use an Exotic Cypher to purchase a second fated engram from the merchant.
Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:
Lunafaction Boots – Warlock leg armor
Lunafaction’s were all the rage earlier this year, not only for Warlock players, but for groups taking on some of the game’s bigger challenges. Unfortunately, Bungie nerfed them during the launch of Shadowkeep nearly a full year ago. Still, they remain a very good option for Warlocks especially when taking part in pinnacle activities like the master level Nightfalls.
They come with the unique perk Alchemical Etchings which provide a substantial impact to both rifts. All rifts now gain the added ability to increase weapon reload speeds while Empowering Rift makes weapons more effective over longer ranges. As such, these are no longer a required item for Warlocks, though the gear does have a great stats roll with a very high discipline. For those with just the collection version, these would make a nice upgrade.
Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +15
- Resilience +3
- Recovery +14
- Discipline +23
- Intellect +7
- Strength +2
Orpheus Rig – Hunter leg armor
At one point, these Nightstalker-focused footwear was incredibly strong, forcing Bungie to nerf the items with the Season of the Worthy update. Considering how strong they were, Bungie limited the item’s potential for super gain, placing a limit on the amount of super that can be gained after using Shadowshot to a maximum of 50%.
While they’re no longer anywhere near the levels they were at before, the Orpheus Rig boots are still a great choice for tether Hunters. Uncanny Arrows enhances the Shadowshot super ability by giving players ability energy for each enemy tethered by Deadfall anchors. For those using Moebius Quiver, they can take more shots than usual. Overall, it’s still a decent pick for Hunters, even if the item doesn’t quite pack the same punch it once did.
The roll isn’t the best, but it remains better than the collection version.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +14
- Resilience +6
- Recovery +11
- Discipline +8
- Intellect +7
- Strength +14
Citan’s Ramparts – Titan leg armor
Not to be confused with the Lion Rampant boots, Citan’s Ramparts offers Titan players something a bit different from those other similar sounding boots. Originally introduced during Season of the Worthy, this gear features the perk called Assault Barricade. Ultimately, it allows allies to shoot through the Titan’s Towering Barricade. The downside is that the barricade’s health and duration is lower than normal.
Naturally, this item likely won’t be for everyone as it only impacts a very small portion of the Titan player. Not everyone uses the Towering Barricade, which makes this item useless for those players. Still, it does have its uses under the right circumstances. This definitely isn’t a must buy but players may find a use for them even with a decent stats roll this week.
Void Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +6
- Resilience +12
- Recovery +13
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +18
- Strength +11
One of the most meme’d weapons in Destiny 2 is back in stock this weekend with Xur. The fusion rifle known as Telesto, the weapon that has broken many parts of the game in the favor of players. This includes, but isn’t limited to helping players cheese the Blind Well event, proc certain buffs and benefits for other players, giving free special ammo in large quantities, and much more. Because of these glitches, the gun has become very player friendly and likely a massive headache for Bungie.
The weapon’s intrinsic perk is called Unplanned Reprieve which causes fusion projectiles to attach and detonate with a delayed void blast. It’s also paired with the Harbinger’s Pulse perk which instantly reloads equipped primary and energy weapons after multi-kills with the Telesto. Naturally, it’s a great PvE weapon as its sticky explosives cover a wide area and can clear adds very fast. It’s a solid PvP weapon as well, though it really shines once the Masterwork catalyst has been applied to increase the ammo reserves.
Additional perks:
- Projection Fuse
- Polymer Grip
Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for September 25, 2020:
- Lunafaction Boots (Warlock leg armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Orpheus Rig (Hunter leg armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Citan’s Ramparts (Titan leg armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Telesto (Fusion Rifle) – 29 Legendary Shards
- Fated Engram – 97 Legendary Shards
- Five of Swords Challenge Card
Destiny 2 Shadowkeep is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
