Microsoft Offering Xbox Series Pre-Order To Approved All Access Customers

Microsoft and GameStop appear to have reserved next-generation Xbox Series consoles for some of those who were approved for the Xbox All Access program but missed the pre-order window. It is currently unknown whether this applies to other retailers as well.

The Xbox All Access Program allows Xbox fans to pick up an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S console at launch without any up-front payment. By also including two years’ worth of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the program gives gamers everything they need to enjoy next-gen games. Those interested need to apply for the program, which would allow participants to pay for an Xbox Series console in monthly installments over two years.

According to Twitter user @gundamman, those accepted into the Xbox All Access program will have the chance to pre-order an Xbox Series console in the very near future. Although the Xbox All Access program released the fine print of the next-gen upgrade last year, it did not clarify whether participants were entitled to a new console at launch. This appears to be the first confirmation that the program may functionally serve as an automatic pre-order.

It is important to note that @gundamman received the message via a GameStop email, rather than an official Microsoft email. In replies to the Tweet, other users indicated they had received emails from the Microsoft Store with different wording. Notably, this alternate wording did not guarantee a console had been set aside for them. This means that the Xbox All Access program may not be a guaranteed pre-order for all customers. However, it is currently unclear whether or not this applies to GameStop customers only.

Many Xbox fans are likely excited about the possibility of securing a coveted Xbox Series console at launch. The chaotic Xbox Series X/S pre-order process left many would-be next-gen gamers without their console of choice. Given that the Xbox All Access program focuses on making the platform financially accessible, it is good that even gamers with tight finances will be able to jump into the next generation of games.

Still, some gamers may be left more frustrated than before. If only some Xbox All Access members get access to pre-orders, this could disappoint anyone who qualified for the program but did not get access. Many may be especially desperate to purchase an Xbox Series console because of Microsoft purchasing Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax. After all, ardent fans of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout might miss out on those series’ next installments, if they end up being Xbox Series console exclusives. In any case, fans will be able to get their thoughts in order once more official details about the Xbox All Access pre-order process release.

The Xbox Series X and S release on November 10.
