Mega Houndoom, as a Mega Evolved Pokemon, is one of the most powerful dark type Pokemon attackers in the game, so its gonna be hard to beat. Even weather conditions will play a huge part in gathering energy from it. Luckily, there are plenty of counters that will work for Mega Houndoom, so here are some options for players to build their team.

Mega Houndoom is not in the gamemaster yet, so these stats are subject to change. However, it is suspected that Mega Houndoom will have a Max CP of 3842 with base stats of an attack of 289, a defense of 194, and 181 HP. Houndoom is typically also weak to rock, fighting, water, and ground type Pokemon. While at the same time, Mega Houndoom will be effective against grass, fire, steel, ghost, dark, ice, and psychic. There are different levels of raid encounters with suggestions for how to counter each at the given level.

  • Kyogre that knows Waterfall or Surf
  • Rhyperior that knows Smack Down, Rock Wrecker, or Mud Slap
  • Conkeldurr that knows Counter or Dynamic Punch

It is also worth mentioning that Mega Blastoise will also be a great tool to be used against Supreme Mega Houndoom, even boosting Kyogre’s abilities in rainy weather. However, it does cost Mega Energy to use. If the player can’t use a Mega Blastoise, these other Pokemon will still work perfectly against Supreme Mega Houndoom.

  • Rampardos with Smack Down or Rock Slide
  • Lucario with Counter or Aura Sphere
  • Kingler with Bibble or Crabhammer

Lucario may be weak against fire, but it will hold its own against Houndoom’s dark attacks. The rest of the team is ideal for getting the most out of the energy gains from the boss.

  • Machamp with Counter or Dynamic Punch
  • Terrakion with Smack Down or Rock Slide
  • Swampert with Mud Shot, Water Gun, or Hydro Cannon
  • Tyranitar with Smack Down or Stone Edge
  • Garchomp with Mud Shot or Earthquake
  • Feraligatr with Waterfall or Hydro Cannon
  • Hariyama with Counter or Dynamic Punch

There is a lot more flexibility with the player’s team at this level. Based on the weather conditions, fans can create their team based on what they have maxed up and ready to fight with.

Hopefully, this guide proves helpful for players wanting to start the Halloween season right.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
