Artist Reveals Bizzaro Superman Model From Canceled Game

Posting to his Instagram account over the last few weeks, Concept Artist and Creature Designer Jerad S.Marantz has unveiled a number of interesting models for a mysterious, now-canceled DC game. Back in late August, he showcased a terrifying rendition of King Shark meant for the fallen-through project, while more recently he showed off an older, grizzled Batman in a more futuristic interpretation of the Bat-suit.

Alongside these two renditions, S.Marantz unveiled a third design, with a take on Bizzaro hitting the designer’s Instagram page. Two days ago, the artist showed off the model again in more detail, reiterating that the villain was meant to feature in a now-canceled video game project and leading many to assume that all three characters were meant to be part of the same world.

The Bizarro model is unsurprisingly very creepy, featuring his signature inverse Superman suit and ghoulish features. The S on his suit and cape are backward, much like his appearance in the comics, while he sports white pupils and grey skin, cementing him as an almost Frankenstein-esque take on Superman. For those who don’t know much about the character, he originally entered the comics as a polar opposite of Superman, being created when the iconic superhero was exposed to a duplicate ray. Other interpretations have seen him created in several different ways, however, his almost zombie-like appearance has always remained the same.

Along with the designs for a futuristic Batman and King Shark, many are assuming that Bizarro was part of one of the canceled WB Montreal Batman projects, whether that’s the infamous Damian Wayne Batman game or one of the other canned projects that led to Gotham Knights. Seen as the former was allegedly meant to be casting some more obscure villains, it makes sense that Bizarro and King Shark would make the cut, especially when factoring in that the likes of Gorilla Grodd and Flamingo were featured too. Regardless, it’s interesting to get a peek behind the curtain into the designs S.Marantz was commissioned to make.

When it comes to Batman-related video games, it seems the property has quite a few entries coming up even if the Caped Crusader himself won’t feature in them. Gotham Knights is slated to hit next year, seeing Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood protect Gotham City in a world devoid of the Dark Knight, while Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will continue the Arkhamverse in 2022, with its multiplayer-focused take on some of the superhero’s most notable adversaries. Canceled projects aside, there’s no denying that it’s a great time to be a Batman fan.
