Minecraft Players Will Be Able to Vote For New Mob | Game Rant

Minecraft‘s next major update is apparently going to include a new mob, and Mojang is inviting fans to join a livestream on October 3, 2020 to decide which one it’s going to be.

The announcement made by Mojang Creative Writer Sofia Dankis today implies that the next Minecraft update will bring in a mob from one of the franchise’s satellite games. The last mob to join the ranks via majority vote was the Phantom, which was the first aggressive flying mob, and a terror to players who do not get enough in-game sleep. One choice is a mob from Mojang’s ARPG spin-off Minecraft Dungeons, but this vote may instead lead to a mob being adapted from Minecraft Earth.

The October 2020 Minecraft Live show will be broadcast via the Minecraft website on October, as well as stream through official accounts on Facebook, Twitch, and YouTube. For those planning to vote for one of the new mobs, the place to go will probably be the official Minecraft page. It is likely that Mojang already has resources ready for all three, so the runners-up may have a chance to join the base game in future updates.

The Glow Squid, which was added to the Minecraft Earth app in February of this year, is modeled after bioluminescent deep-sea creatures. However, it is likely most players will encounter this aquatic creature in swamp biomes. In Minecraft Earth, this mob drops ink sacs, but the glowing variant may also become a surface world source of Glowstone, otherwise found in the Nether.

The Iceologer, also known as an ‘ice pillager’ or ‘chillager’, is a hostile mob who first appears in the recently released Minecraft Dungeons DLC, Creeping Winter. Often appearing in pairs, these robed sorcerers summon large blocks of ice to drop on players’ heads. If this mob ends up being the winner, it will spawn at the icy peaks of especially tall mountains to ward off curious players.

Finally, the Moobloom is a new variant of the cow similar to a Mooshroom, and is currently the rarest cow mob in Minecraft Earth. It is yellow with white spots, has buttercups growing on its back, and leaves a trail of dandelions and sunflowers wherever it walks. There is no indication of what resource it provides when milked, so if the bovine is chosen it will either offer a new item or simply end up being a decorative curiosity for animal lovers and those with a pressing need for yellow dye.

Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
