While a lot of news regarding Twitch in 2020 is usually related to a new ban, things are changing up with a Twitch streamer getting a new record for the site. Twitch streamer GPHustla currently has the record for the longest continuous stream on the site.
GPHustla’s stream is currently clocked at over 1000 hours with the time still ticking up, as the stream is still ongoing as of September 28, 2020. The stream initially began as a 24-hour marathon stream, but it ended up going beyond original plans.
The stream follows a variety of things from GPHustla, including gameplay, going out for daily life errands, and sleeping. Because of this ongoing stream, GPHustla’s entire life for the stream’s duration has been public for all to see on his channel.
GPHustla’s stream has broken the previous record for Twitch stream length, which was previously owned by Reecesy with only 200 hours. It is unknown how long GPHustla will keep this stream up, but his continued enthusiasm implies that he has no plans on stopping anytime soon. He has mentioned wanting to break the official Guinness World Record for streaming length, however, with an official attempt on January 1st, 2021.
So far, there hasn’t been any major trouble relating to the stream’s length that viewers have picked up on. The positive attitude toward the stream and the attitude from GPHustla will hopefully last until this Twitch marathon eventually ends.
The stream originally began back in August, making it well over a month since GPHustla’s life has been out for the world to see. If GPHustla were to continue the stream up until his attempt with Guinness World Records, this original stream would clock in at well over 3000 hours.
As the hours keep growing, the number of people that are curious about the stream grows as well. Many are tuning in to see how GPHustla is doing, and to see the live timer available on the stream to see just how long the stream currently is. While there aren’t usually many viewers all at once, there are still plenty of people coming by to just check in to see how everything it.
With this current stream, GPHustla is considering himself to be Twitch’s only 24/7 streamer with how his entire life has been archived since the stream’s beginning. It is unknown if others will attempt to become 24/7 streamers as well or is GPHustla will own this spot for a long time.
