Xbox Series X fans are getting an exciting opportunity soon, according to the official Xbox Twitter account. Users can register their Gamertag into a competition to enter the Xbox Hall of Game and win an Xbox Series X, the next-gen console releasing alongside its economy version, the Series S, on November 10. Players who don’t plan to compete can still enter and get a shot at an Xbox Game Pass.
The offer is free of charge, unlike some competitions that attempt to raise money (sometimes for charity) by making players pay to enter. The “top 8 performers” from each country will be able to enter into the Xbox Hall of Fame, while a random ten fans will also get a prize for entering, which encourages people to join the competition even if they aren’t the best Xbox players in their region.
One of the ways to get into the Hall of Fame in to get a win in the Lifetime Triumphs category, which includes accomplishments from the current Xbox gen: most achievements unlocked, most games played in the Xbox Game Pass, and highest Gamerscore. The timeline players have to have completed these challenges is November 22, 2013, to October 19 of this year. Veteran gamers will have a leg-up in the Lifetime Triumphs category as opposed to newer fans.
The Xbox Trials also provide another opportunity to win, and can be completed in one of five ways: highest Emissary Value in Sea of Thieves, highest Gamerscore from October 1-19, fastest lap on a special circuit in Forza Horizon 4, most achievements gained October 1-19, and most zombies slayed in State of Decay 2 from October 16-18. The prize for winning in one’s country in any of these categories is a free Xbox Series X, and all participating fans can enter a raffle for a year-long subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Registration opens on September 28, so if fans haven’t already signed up, they should get on that if they want a shot at a free console or a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Players should also keep in mind that new Gamertags won’t be accepted, and that the competition and raffle are limited to existing tags to reward long-time Xbox fans.
Competitions like this are common in the video games industry as a way to drum up hype about a specific product, especially a console like the Xbox Series X. The Xbox Series X pre-orders were a fiasco, in some cases even causing damage to people’s credit scores, but the console sold out on pre-order day and the launch is rolling forward, accompanied by some memes poking fun at the situation.
The Xbox Series X and Series S will release November 10.
