Call of Duty: Warzone Adds Armored Royale Mode | Game Rant

Call of Duty: Warzone has remained popular due to its free-to-play nature and consistent updates, with the latest season set to shakeup the flow of a Warzone match through the new subway tunnels being added to the map. Beyond these subway tunnels, however, Warzone players will be getting a new vehicle-based mode as well.

Shared in a Call of Duty Blog Post as part of the Modern Warfare Season 6 content roadmap, Armored Royale is certainly shaping up to be an interesting mode. The blog post describes it as “fast-paced” and “high action,” with the Warzone variant giving every team a heavily armored cargo truck with a turret attached. What portion of the map will be playable is unclear from the post, though open areas like Krovnik Farmland would make sense.

Aside from every team spawning with a vehicle, the other key aspect is the mode’s unique respawn system. According to the blog post, “squad members can respawn if their truck is still in one piece,” meaning that a strategy to keep the truck intact will be just as important as the players themselves surviving. Once the vehicle is blown up, respawns are disabled for a team, with the last squad standing winning “regardless of whether their truck just rolled out of a repair shop or has its parts scattered throughout greater Verdansk.” Players will surely find some clever places to hide their vehicles if there are not restrictions, with the new Warzone subway tunnels being a strong candidate.

Players will also have to keep an eye out for cheaters in this new mode, though, as the Warzone aimbot hacks have still been prevalent despite Infinity Ward doing their best to stop them. With yet another Warzone streamer caught failing after using an aimbot, the problem is likely to persist for some time. While it is hilarious to see players fail miserably even when cheating, aimbot hacks and other glitches have been a plague on the mode for some time. With that in mind, it would not be surprising if Armored Royale players were shot out of their vehicles with insane accuracy every so often.

Armored Royale is not the only unique Warzone modes in the works, however, as the battle royale will supposedly be getting a Zombies addition soon. Voice lines have leaked for the supposed Zombie Royale mode, indicating that it is likely very far along into its development. While nothing is confirmed, a release around the time of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War would make sense given Treyarch’s deep association with Call of Duty Zombies.

Beyond adding a Zombies Royale mode, the original Treyarch Zombies cast could possibly be playable within Warzone. With more iconic Call of Duty characters to play battle royale variants like Armored Royale with, Warzone should remain fresh for some time to come.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
