Dragon Age 4 Fans Should Be Excited for December | Game Rant

Dragon Age 4 has been known to be in development since 2018, following a reported internal reboot, and it is only just this year that fans received concrete updates about the upcoming game. Last August, Bioware released several pieces of concept art, and a behind the scenes video, where some developers shared their insights on the upcoming game.

Despite all these updates, fans still haven’t seen actual gameplay footage of the game, which is understandable given that BioWare has stated that Dragon Age 4 is still in its early stages, despite having been announced two years ago. Now, there is a strong reason to believe that Dragon Age fans should be excited for December, given that historically, BioWare has been using a certain event in December to divulge important announcements for Dragon Age and its other franchises.

Of course, this event is no other than The Game Awards, which usually falls during the last month of the year. While there is still no official confirmation that BioWare will be in attendance at the event, it is worth remembering that back in 2018, the studio made the official confirmation of Dragon Age 4 at The Game Awards. Given this, it is likely that BioWare will utilize the awards show once again to showcase Dragon Age 4 and provide fans an update regarding the game’s development, especially since most video-game events this early this year have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the moment, The Game Awards 2020 will take place as scheduled on December 10, 2020.

Moreover, because of the behind the scenes video that was released recently at Gamescom 2020, it would appear that the developers are slowly becoming more and more willing to share info. Soon is a relative term, though, but if they are referring to anytime this year, then it would most likely fall during The Game Awards given that it is one of the last major video game events left for 2020. But what should players expect to see at The Game Awards should BioWare share more details about Dragon Age 4?

At the moment, it is difficult to predict what BioWare’s next move will be, given that the studio has been inconsistent with its updates on Dragon Age 4. But hopefully, fans should see an actual gameplay trailer, rather than another vague teaser similar to the one BioWare released back in 2018 when it first announced Dragon Age 4.

If by any chance the studio reveals that it will make an announcement at The Game Awards, then it is likely that an actual gameplay trailer will be released this time around given that BioWare would probably not want to make a big fuss without anything new to offer fans. However, at the very least, a solid 2-3 minute cinematic trailer would be more than enough to tide over fans.

Assuming that BioWare will release a gameplay trailer for Dragon Age 4 in December, the studio should showcase exploration and how the world of Thedas is translated using next-generation video game technology. The studio may even reveal to fans who the next protagonist will be, and how they relate to the overall plot of the Dragon Age franchise. It is worth noting that in the recent developer video, BioWare mentioned that Dragon Age 4’s hero will be someone without power and influence, suggesting that the upcoming game will be more like Origins than Inquisition.

BioWare should also showcase how combat will work in Dragon Age 4, given that game mechanics have always played an important role in previous Dragon Age games. Additionally, it would also be nice to see any new features or improvements that BioWare plans to implement in Dragon Age 4, especially those that would directly address the complaint of fans in previous games.

Dragon Age 4 is currently in development.
