Now that a release date is in sight, some people are finally getting first hands-on with the PlayStation 5. Sony has announced many of the important details relating to its new console, but there are still features that likely won’t be discovered until players physically have the console in their homes. Luckily, a custom controller company has some more insight on the PS5’s DualSense controller.
The DualSense controller is the next step up from the PS4’s DualShock controller. The DualSense has brand new features such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a built-in microphone. Geoff Keighley got the first hands-on preview with the DualSense controller earlier this year, which proved that the new PS5 accessory is slightly larger and heavier than the DualShock. Learning how exactly this new controller will impact gaming for players will have to wait until the PS5 is released.
Evzen Elite Technology, a custom controller company, looks to be one of the lucky few to have received a PS5 DualSense controller. The company’s Instagram has revealed some new images of the DualSense controller in separate pieces, and there’s even a complete teardown to get to the inner workings of the new controller. The thumbnails are small but some of the new tech that the DualSense is employing can be seen in the gutted images.
Being a controller design company it’s likely that Evzen Elite may have received a DualSense in advance to better understand how to make custom builds for future releases. The controller seems to have been crafted with plenty of care, right down to the textured pattern, which will likely give the controller a better grip. The DualSense is also expected to have better battery life than the DualShock and will include a USB-C charging port instead of the previous Micro-USB.
The DualSense is likely going to be one of the defining features of the PS5, with many game developers citing it as one of the things they are most excited to work with. A developer on Tormented Souls has even predicted that the DualSense will redefine the horror genre in gaming. Until Sony releases official technical specs for the DualSense, these images are the best thing to go by to see the most detailed view of the DualSense controller. Luckily, players won’t have to wait too long until they can see the PS5 controller for themselves.
The PlayStation 5 releases on November 12.
