Xbox Game Pass Adding Brutal Legend and More in October

Moving into the next console generation, Microsoft seems very focused on pushing how player-friendly the Xbox Game Pass model will be, making it very clear that players on Series X will be getting hours of gaming for a fixed monthly cost. The service already boasts some huge names too, including Halo: The Master Chief Collection, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Gears 5, The Outer Worlds, and Nier: Automata.

Of course, the service is constantly getting tons of new titles for players to enjoy though, and October seemingly won’t be any different. Announced via the Xbox website, there’s a ton of amazing new releases hitting Game Pass over the coming month, with the headliners being Brutal Legend, Forza Motorsport 7, and, of course, Doom Eternal.

The latter is easily going to be a huge get for Xbox Game Pass, especially with the recent announcement that Microsoft has decided to acquire ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda. Releasing earlier this year, Doom Eternal was heralded as a superb sequel to Doom’s 2016 reboot, pitting the Doom Slayer against hordes of enemies in a much bigger and bloodier follow-up. It managed to score a phenomenal 87 on Metacritic back in March and currently sits amongst Game of the Year discussions as a worthy candidate for gaming’s top prize. It’ll be a must-play experience for Game Pass owners, bringing another recent AAA experience for a remarkably low cost on October 1.

Brutal Legend, on the other hand, is a bit of an older release, originally debuting back in 2009. Perhaps best known for starring Hollywood icon Jack Black in its leading role, the game is one of Double Fine’s earlier comedy gems, mixing heavy metal with fun hack-and-slash combat. It’s often considered a really underrated action-adventure, so those who never got round to giving it a try can do so with Game Pass on October 9. As for Forza Motorsport 7, it’s largely what it says on the tin. The most recent in the more realistic Motorsport series, it’ll be good for players to be able to jump in and get used to the way the series handles in preparation for the series return on next-generation hardware. It’ll be available on October 8.

The other games officially coming to the service are Drake Hollow, which lands on October 1, and Ikenfell, which debuts on October 8. Overall, it seems as though Xbox Game Pass subscribers will gain access to some huge games over the next month, with a range of must-play experiences for all types of gamers landing on the service in October.
