Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – Every Map, Ranked Worst To Best

Counter Strike: Global Offensive is one of Valve‘s most popular multiplayer games. The Counter Strike series started out as a mod, but quickly became its own series. With each game in the series, familiar maps returned and new maps were added in. While old classics were still enjoyed by fans of the series, newer maps quickly became favorites.

With the inclusion of new game modes, such as Arms Race, Flying Scout, and Demolition, smaller maps were also added into the game. As of September of 2020, there are about a total of 27 maps that can be found across each game mode.

27 Anubis

Anubis was added in March of 2020 and is a bomb defusal map. It pits the GIGN against the Elite Crew, with the terrorist trying to blow up an Egyptian archaeology site.

It is a newer map, putting players in control of blowing up or saving an ancient Egyptian site. Fans of Egyptian history might find this map interesting.

26 Canals

Canals was added in March 2017 and pits SEAL Team 6 against the Phoenix Connexion. It is a bomb defusal mode, with the terrorist trying to blow up the Bridge of Sighs or St. Mark’s Campanile.

This map has players fight around St. Mark’s Square, recreating the familiar area. It would be sad to see some famous landmarks get blown up.

25 Agency

Agency was added in November 2017 and is a Hostage Rescue map. It has the FBI and the Professionals fighting each other, with hostages being rescued at the helipad.

The entire map takes place at the top of a skyscraper, meaning players will need to fight through office space to the hostages. Players who are feeling lucky can jump around broken windows to flank their enemies.

24 Rialto

Rialto is a map added in May 2017 and is a Wingman map. The terrorists are trying to blow up the bridge on the map, while the CTs are trying to stop them.

It is a 2v2 game mode, meaning the map is smaller than the others. Players are able to see each other across the canal, making this map a good one to snipe on.

23 Lunacy

Lunacy was added in November 2019 and is a map for Arms Race and Flying Scoutsman. It is thought that the map is set on the moon, but there is a hole in the roof that reveals it is set in Hollywood.

The map takes on the look of a moon colony, giving players rovers and moon rocks to hide behind. If it was actually set on the moon, it would be a lot cooler.

22 Baggage

Baggage is an Arms Race map that has been in the game since launch. It pits players against each other as they try to get to the last gun in the mode.

The map is symmetrical, giving both teams an advantage. There are three different levels of the baggage area, meaning players will need to look at all sides to stay alive.

21 Chlorine

Chlorine is set at an abandoned waterpark and is a bomb defusal map. It was added in March 2020 and has the FBI fighting the Phoenix Connexion.

It does not make a lot of sense as to why terrorists want to blow up an abandoned waterpark, but it would probably scare the local population just a bit.

20 Sugarcane

Sugarcane has been in the game since the beginning and is a demolition map. It looks similar to the sugar mill in the Left 4 Dead 2 campaign Hard Rain.

As it is a demolition map, players cannot buy weapons and have to fight through the factory with the weapon they are given. With offices, there are a few places to ambush enemy players.

19 Bank

Bank is another demolition map in the game since the beginning. Terrorists must plant C4 by the vault to break in and win the round. This map plays like a classic bank robbery, with CTs trying to stop it.

18 Vertigo

Vertigo was added to the game in October 2012 and is a bomb defusal map. It is also set on top of a skyscraper that is under construction. It first appeared in Counter Strike 1.1, making a new appearance in Global Offensive. Players not paying attention can fall off the edge of the map to their death.

17 Cobblestone

Cobblestone is a bomb defusal map that can be found in every game in the series. During Global Offensive, Cobblestone plays a bit more into the story and is revealed to be the home of a Lord William. There is a sniper challenge and upper areas, giving players an area to snipe enemies.

16 Cache

Cache takes place near the Chernobyl Power Plant and is a bomb defusal map. Luckily, the terrorists aren’t trying to blow up the power plant, but instead a parking area and a storage area.

This map allows players to fight inside the abandoned city of Pripyat, making it a pretty cool map.

15 St. Marc

St. Marc is a demolition map that takes place in Haiti. Terrorists need to plant the bomb on a chemical truck, while the CTs are trying to stop them. The map also looks similar to the first map of the Swamp Fever campaign in Left 4 Dead 2.

14 Militia

Militia is a hostage rescue map that has been in every game of the series. It takes place at a compound and has the CTs rescue hostages from the building.

There is also a winter version of the map, giving it a Christmas feel. Players can even see the chickens on the map wearing little sweaters.

13 Overpass

Overpass is a bomb defusal map added in December 2013. It has terrorists trying to blow up a park, while there are also underground areas for the player to travel around the map. The canals offer cover for players going from one side to the other.

12 Monastery

Monastery is an Arms Race map added in October 2012. It is set in a Tibetan monastery, letting players fight through a religious center as they try to make it to the last gun.

11 Shoots

The map is an Arms Race map and is symmetrical, with an upper area and shacks in the corners. It is more often chosen when voted on, making it a popular map to play on for Arms Race.

10 Mirage

Mirage is a bomb defusal map added in June 2013.

It has two bomb sites, one out in the open and one that is hidden behind boxes. It also has a similar look to the map Italy.

9 Inferno

This map is a bomb defusal that has been in every game of the series. It is also set in Italy and has the terrorist trying to blow up pipelines. CTs are trying to prevent this, as it would destroy the village.

8 Nuke

Nuke is a bomb defusal map that appears in two other games of the series. The terrorists are tasked with blowing up the power plant, while the CTs try to stop them. Players are able to fight inside the power plant or along the outside edge of it.

7 Train

This map takes place in a train yard. The terrorist must blow up one of two trains and the CTs must stop them. Teams can either sneak around train cars or go through an office area to fight enemies.

6 Lake

Lake is an Arms Race, demolition, and Flying Scoutsman map. It looks like the final house in the Death Toll campaign from Left 4 Dead. Players can fight inside the house or in the wooded area on the edge of the map. Players can also sneak through the water to ambush enemies.

5 Dust II

This is a bomb defusal map that first appeared in Source. It is a fan favorite, having an alleyway where terrorists can snipe enemies. The two bomb sites have areas where either side can defend them, depending on if the bomb has been planted or not.

4 Safehouse

Safehouse is an Arms Race, Demolition, and Flying Scoutsman map that takes place at one house. It is set in a wooded area, with teams spawning on either side. Players can either fight through the house, climb to the second floor, or go around the sides.

3 Italy

Italy is a hostage rescue map that has been in every game of the series. CTs are trying to rescue hostages, while terrorists are trying to stop them. There are three areas the teams can go, making for a quick game.

2 Assault

Terrorists try to defend hostages from the CTs on this map. The terrorists are able to set up defenses, meaning CTs have to assault the warehouse they are in. CTs can also set up on the elevated train area, giving them a place to snipe any enemies.

1 Office

Office has terrorists trying to defend hostages inside of an office building. The CTs start in a parking lot and have to make it to the back of the building. They can go through 2 different courtyards to attack the terrorists.

When they have the hostages, they must bring them back to the parking lot to finish the mission.
