Fall Guys – Obscure Tips to Help You Win Crowns | Game Rant

Fall Guys isn’t a very competitive game at first glance, but players that manage to make it into the later rounds will soon notice that things get pretty cutthroat. Between other players using strategies that can’t seem to be replicated, griefers trying to grab, disqualify, or otherwise sabotage their opponents, and the challenging Final round that only allows one winner, the slightest edge is enough to bring a crown that much closer. Players falling short of victory should consider using some of these more obscure tactics, as they may be enough to help the player stay at the front of the pack longer.

Fall Guys features several types of rounds, ranging from races to survival rounds, and each requires specific strategies to win. Some of these are more intuitive, in order to win a race players just have to get to the end before others, while others require a bit more thought like Perfect Match. Regardless, these tips should help players in the majority of cases to qualify and move on to the next round. These are techniques that players may have seen in use before but been unsure of how to do themselves, and beginner players may find these ideas to be completely new.

Arguably one of the best things to come out of the mid season update was the introduction of Big Yeetus. Anti-cheat enhanced the overall Fall Guys experience for PC players, but Big Yeetus has become a fan favorite inclusion due to how he can shake things up during a round. Spending time on Reddit, players have no doubt seen countless videos of others being yeeted great distances by this massive hammer, sometimes directly into the finish line, yet whenever they try to do the same Big Yeetus just knocks them flat on their face. There’s a trick to getting the most out of this most benevolent of hammers.

Simply walking in front of or underneath Big Yeetus usually won’t be enough to provide any sort of meaningful boost. At best, the player will fly forward a small distance and at worst, they will faceplant and lose time trying to stand up. In order to use Big Yeetus to its full potential, players need to jump into the hammer at the right time. This is easiest to do when approached from the side, thought it’s possible to run underneath the hammer and jump before it hits. Doing this should give players much better results.

How often have players started in the front line on a race like Fruit Chute or Slime Climb, only to be passed by players in the back that somehow moved faster? This kind of thing happens a lot, and it can really be a source of confusion for new players that don’t know about this trick. Any slope in Fall Guys like the ones at the start of the two aforementioned races can be used to boost speed through this technique.

While heading down the slope, players need to perform a series of short jumps. Due to the downward slope, this will result in their bean moving quickly and passing others that are simply walking. This happens for the same reason why jumping on Fruit Chute’s treadmill is a bad idea, as that is an uphill slope and actually slows the player down. It’s is a risky maneuver, though, as if it’s done improperly it can result in the player falling over. This wastes valuable time during close matches, so players will need to use their best judgements on when to utilize this trick.

It’s the name of the game, but it can be extremely frustrating at times. Unfortunately, Fall Guys simply aren’t very dexterous (it seems the anatomy of a Fall Guy doesn’t allow for it), and they often fall over at seemingly random times. This can happen from simply jumping or bumping into another player, but there’s a trick to minimize the amount of time players spend fallen over. This particular method only works to prevent falls from great heights or landing on awkward slopes, but it can give players that extra time they need to stay ahead of the crowd during tight races.

If the player takes a big fall, like at the end of Door Dash, their Fall Guy will always ragdoll even if they land straight up and down. This wastes a lot of time and in that particular level often results in a huge dogpile of Fall Guys. Instead, if players dive just before hitting the ground, they won’t ragdoll at all, instead performing the normal animation to get up from a dive which is considerably shorter. This also works to prevent ragdolling on levels like See Saw, where the destination isn’t always a flat surface. This is a minor benefit, but it can be really helpful when used at the right time.

For those players that do make it to the final round of a show in Fall Guys, there are some pitfalls that can be avoided by careful players. Despite their high stakes, each of the four available final rounds has a strange glitch that often prevents players from winning a crown, but understanding these glitches can help avoid them. On Hex-A-Gone, for example, players have a chance to clip through an entire platform if they land at the intersection of three hexes. For this reason, it’s always best to plan dropping down to the next level and land in the center of a hex.

Likewise, players on Jump Showdown might have noticed their jump button failing during the most crucial times. This is caused by standing on the line between two platforms. If players try and stay fully on one platform, this won’t happen as often. Fall Mountain has a glitch where players will grab the crown and hang on it without getting the win, there isn’t much players can do to avoid this but it’s important not to give up. Though one mistake can spell doom on this level, it’s possible others will fail as well. Finally, Royal Fumble is the infamous tail final, so players can expect to have their tails stolen from miles away. Other than doing their best to keep their distance, players can’t do much about this one until the lag is fixed.

Fall Guys is available now on PC and PS4.
