Apex Legends Reveals Details for New Collection Event, LTM, Crossplay

Respawn Entertainment has revealed a new trailer for Apex Legends announcing several exciting features coming to the game. These details range from a variety of topics including the next Collection Event, a new LTM, as well as the highly anticipated crossplay update. Perhaps the best part is that players won’t have to wait long before they can get their hands on these features, as they all make their way to Apex Legends on October 6.

The newest Collection Event coming to Apex Legends has been dubbed the Aftermarket Collection Event. The event, which has been rumored to be coming to the game for over a month now, will feature brand legendary skins for Octane, Wraith, and Caustic. Caustic in particular seems to be a favorite for this event as later in the trailer players get their first look at his heirloom: a gold hammer with a gas-masked face on it, very reminiscent of Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat.

Next the trailer gives a very brief glimpse at a new LTM coming to Apex Legends. This LTM has been dubbed Flashpoint. In this mode, players won’t be able to find any loot that heals them or provides shields. Instead, they will need to make their way to specific Flashpoint Zones that will heal them over time.

Finally, players were finally given details about the crossplay update coming to the game. Starting on October 6 alongside the rest of this content, players on Origin on PC, PS4, and Xbox One will be able to participate in the Crossplay Beta. According to the official Apex Legends website, players will need to manually disable crossplay if they do not wish to play with other platforms.

While this crossplay update will be exciting for many players, there are still some mysteries that Respawn doesn’t address in their blog post. Many Apex Legends players have been under the assumption that when crossplay arrived in the game that would also be when the Nintendo Switch and Steam versions would be released as well. However, it seems that both of these versions are still being worked on for the time being.

Nintendo Switch players may be disappointed that they have to wait a little longer before they can jump into the arena, however it looks like the game will have plenty of new content waiting for them when they arrive. Reliable dataminer and leaker Biast12 recently leaked images of 7 new legends that are currently in the works for Apex Legends. So while Switch players may have to wait a little longer, it seems like it’ll be well worth the wait.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version currently in development.
