The major Season 6 update for Call of Duty: Warzone has seen multiple new additions to the battle royale, from the new subway tunnel locations to some new weaponry. One new weapon is the AS VAL assault rifle, and it did not take Warzone players long to discover something wrong with the additional fun.
The AS VAL joined the SP-R208 sniper rifle as the free weapons in the Season 6 battle pass. While fans were excited to see the gun make its debut in the Call of Duty series, a major bug has been discovered that makes the AS VAL’s SPP rounds especially deadly. Well-known CoD YouTuber TheXclusiveAce put together a video on the projectiles, and it quickly becomes apparent that the rounds are not functioning as intended.
While TheXclusiveAce does highlight the downside of the mags, which is their 10 round limit, he also shows off why exactly they are so broken. While the bullets do high damage normally, the glitchy SPP rounds also appear to shoot through all surfaces with no damage reduction. TheXclusiveAce states that the weapon seems to be “coded to the point where you just don’t lose damage through surfaces,” and this is exactly as broken as it sounds based on the test clips provided by the YouTuber. Players who are not above using bugs to their advantage will want to update their AS VAL loadout quickly, as this issue will likely be fixed very soon.
TheXclusiveAce shows the weapon’s shots clipping through crates and entire buildings, surfaces that would normally either absorb bullets entirely or greatly reduce damage. With 2-3 shots, however, the target being fired at dies regardless of how deep behind cover they are. The YouTuber also showcases a deadly combination with the Snapshot grenade, as the equipment marking players through walls means instant death when the AS VAL SPP rounds are used. Knowing this glitch exists explains why a player got a cross-map, one-shot kill with the AS VAL in Warzone, with the weapon completely breaking lobbies that it appears in.
The AS VAL’s Season 6 partner in crime, the SP-R208, is currently experiencing a beneficial bug of its own. With a certain SP-R208 loadout highlighted by professional CoD player NICKMERCS, the weapon becomes hitscan. Essentially functioning like old Call of Duty weapons where bullet drop does not exist and shots do not need to be lead, the sniper instantly fires exactly where the crosshairs are centered. With the right setup, the SP-R208 becomes just as broken within Warzone as the AS VAL.
With both weapons added within Season 6 of Modern Warfare and Warzone being broken, as well as the demon texture glitch returning, the game is in dire need of some patches. Hopefully it gets them soon, as players will surely be getting insta-killed through surfaces until a fix comes.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
