The Moon Harvest Festival has arrived to Overcooked! 2. The update adds a host of new content to the chaotic co-op cooking game.
Overcooked!’s official Twitter account announced a free content update a few days ago. Until today, which saw a trailer release, details on what to expect were slim. Since its release in 2018, the list of available content in Overcooked! 2 has grown tremendously. So much so, in fact, that a Gourmet Edition released earlier this year, collecting five content packs together.
Even with a compilation of both Overcooked! games in the works for the new console generation, developer Ghost Town Games continue to add content to the popular party game. The Moon Harvest Festival update adds five new kitchens, a new recipe for Mooncakes, and a new hazard in the form of lily pads. In addition, the update as a whole takes on a traditional Asian flair in honor of the Mid-Autumn Festival. A season pass containing three DLCs is also available, but is not required for the autumn update.
In the last two years, Overcooked! 2 has become one of the most successful local co-op games on the market. While the game has found success on multiple platforms, its bread and butter lies with one in particular. In 2019, it cracked the Nintendo Switch’s top-25 most downloaded games list for the entire platform.
Since couch co-op has become something of a rarity in modern gaming, the success of both Overcooked! games to date is refreshing to players looking for local multiplayer. If trends continue, Overcooked!: All You Can Eat could become a couch co-op staple on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
Overcooked! 2 and the Moon Harvest Festival update are available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
