My Nintendo Adds Animal Crossing: New Horizons Physical Rewards

Despite coming out seven months ago, Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to be a popular and successful title for Nintendo, with no signs of slowing down, especially with this month introducing its long-awaited Halloween update and a Thanksgiving/Christmas update teased for later down the line.

One of the biggest draws of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is how players are able to decorate their in-game homes. But while players may be able to design their houses to suit their fashion tastes, some may wish they could decorate their real-life homes with some Animal Crossing merchandise of their own. Fortunately, that is now possible, courtesy of My Nintendo.

As a reminder, My Nintendo has a rewards scheme where by purchasing software or completing tasks in mobile titles like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes, users can earn points to spend on rewards. Usually, these rewards are software or discounts, but there are a few physical rewards to be obtained and Nintendo has recently added a small handful of Animal Crossing related ones.

The first and cheapest item is a Leaf Bandana, emblazoned with the iconic series leaf motif. It’s only worth 600 Platinum Points, which are the easiest to obtain. Next are two separate shopping bags. One has the Dodo Airlines logo and the other features series veteran and mascot Tom Nook and his twin apprentices, Timmy and Tommy. Both these bags are worth 800 Platinum Points each.

The last reward is a simple Tom Nook keychain worth 1000 Platinum Points. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, this item is out of stock and there’s no word if it will become available again. This is clearly a sign that fans will need to act quick if they want to get their hands on even one of these rewards, as Nintendo states that these items are only available while supplies last and will be discontinued by the end of October 30th. What’s more, these items are only available to US and Canadian residents and shipping fees are also included.

In other news, Nintendo appears to be cracking down on islands that contain hacked items, as the recent Halloween update has added new themed furniture items and pumpkins, but also removed said hacked items, including a popular fence item.

Speaking of hacks, Nintendo has also recently settled a legal battle with Uberchips, a store that was selling hacking hardware made for the Switch. Not only must the store stop selling the products, it must pay Nintendo $2 million in damages.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch.
