Donkey Kong Record Holder Billy Mitchell Appears in AEW

Since its inception, All Elite Wrestling has consistently had a connection to the gaming world, with one event even taking place alongside the CEO fighting game tournament. And now AEW has taken things a step further, incorporating one of the world’s most famous video game players into an ongoing storyline airing on it weekly television show AEW Dynamite.

Video game enthusiasts who tuned in to the latest episode of AEW Dynamite may have recognized controversial Donkey Kong world record Billy Mitchell. Mitchell appeared at the end of the segment where Miro (formerly known as Rusev in the WWE) was hanging out with his friend Kip Sabian. During this segment, it was established that Miro, who is set to be the best man at Sabian’s wedding, was struggling to think of ideas for the bachelor party.

The segment eventually leads to Miro playing a game at an arcade, at which point he ends up playing alongside Billy Mitchell. Miro vents about his problems planning Sabian’s bachelor party to Mitchell, at which point Mitchell offers his assistance, saying that he knows some people that could help make the bachelor party “really crazy.” Fans will have to wait for next week’s episode of Dynamite to see what this something “really crazy” happens to be, and if Mitchell continues to appear on AEW television.

Anyone that has followed Miro since he left WWE would not have been surprised to see the former “Bulgarian Brute” at an arcade. Since leaving WWE, Miro has spent quite a bit of time streaming video games on Twitch. And it seems that the personality he has established in his Twitch streams is being incorporated into his new wrestling character.

Since Miro works for AEW, he is able to keep streaming video games on Twitch with no strings attached. Unfortunately for his former coworkers at WWE, that will soon no longer be the case. In a controversial move, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has made the decision to restrict talents’ use of third-party services like Twitch, and soon WWE will actually take control of its talents’ Twitch accounts.

AEW made fun of WWE’s Twitch controversy at the All Out pay-per-view event in a backstage segment that included Kip Sabian. It seems Sabian and his ongoing storyline will remain firmly connected to the video game world, but fans will have to wait and see how it all plays out in the coming weeks of AEW Dynamite.
