Koei Tecmo Wants to Make More Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Style Games in Future

After the announcement from Nintendo revealing the upcoming Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, many fans have shown their excitement for the game as its release date draws closer. While this action-oriented Hyrule Warriors sequel seemingly came out of left field when it was first announced, more information continues to be released, giving fans a better picture of what the game is going to look like.

Fans aren’t the only ones excited about Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, however. Koei Tecmo, the developer that worked closely with Nintendo to produce this game, is pleased with fans’ reactions to the information that has been released so far about the upcoming Zelda game. This studio has previously create titles such as Persona 5 Scramble and Dynasty Warriors, and it may be looking to work on more dynamic games such as this Hyrule Warriors sequel going forward.

Yosuke Hayashi, a Koei Tecmo producer and head of Team Ninja, shared that he is very happy about Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamitys reception in the gaming community. He told fans that he and his team enjoyed working on a game in this well-loved Nintendo franchise, and that he is excited for players to experience the game. He also said he hopes his team will be able to work on “more interesting games” like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in the future.

Some fans believe this means Koei Tecmo may being working to create another entry in their signature action-based series in collaboration with other Nintendo franchises, but there is currently no word from either game company supporting this. While Hayashi’s comments don’t suggest anything is set in stone, it opens the door to potential discussions for other iconic gaming franchises in the future. Fans will have to wait and see if anything comes from Hayashi’s statement.

With new information like screenshots of playable characters such as Urbosa and Revali mid-combat being released, many fans are growing more excited to play Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. As the release date for the game draws closer, some hope this will not be the last game of this type for a Nintendo franchise. Based on Hayashi’s statement, there is hope for more Nintendo and Koei Tecmo collaborations in the future, potentially with other iconic game series outside of Legend of Zelda.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set to launch for the Nintendo Switch on November 20th.
