Pokemon GO: Niantic Anniversary Event Dates, Features, and Bonuses

The summer of events may be behind Pokemon GO players, but that doesn’t mean things are slowing down in the world of the mobile AR game. The holiday events that run basically from just before Halloween all the way through the new year keep players busy as the weather grows colder, but the excitement has started a bit early this year thanks to a few shorter events throughout the end of September and the beginning of October.

With the Fashion Week event and bonuses already underway, many players are currently out hunting down shiny spawns and special hats. The excitement continues to pick up later this weekend when another list of features and bonuses become available as part of an event celebrating Niantic’s fifth anniversary in Pokemon GO.

Although the Niantic Anniversary event isn’t quite as exciting as the annual Pokemon GO anniversary that takes place over the summer, it is still a fairly rewarding event with some decent bonuses in place. The timed research offers players the chance to pick up some helpful items like TMs and an Egg Incubator and the bonuses include some great opportunities for additional XP for players who are still on that long grind to the endgame…

Sunday, October 4, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time

The following rewards are available through the full Niantic Anniversary event timed research storyline.

1 Incense

1 Egg Incubator

1 Lucky Egg

1 Fast TM

1 Charged TM

1 Star Piece

And more!

Team GO Rocket Balloons will be appearing more often than usual!

2× Lucky Egg duration

2× Star Piece duration

2× Catch XP

2× Hatch XP

1/2 Egg hatch distance

The 1 Pokecoin Niantic Anniversary Box should be available in the game’s shop from Saturday, October 3, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Monday, October 5, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. The box contains 30 Ultra Balls.

The full details about all of the quests and rewards available through the event’s Time Research should be available soon and that will offer a better look of how profitable this event can be for players who aren’t really in the market for additional XP bonuses. It will be interesting to keep an eye on that storyline see what it has to offer the crowd that is already at the end game. Hopefully there will be some exciting surprises along the way.

For now, Pokemon GO trainers should be able to head out into the world (or play from home) and continue catching the best Unova Pokemon in the game and getting closer to that complete Pokedex. Check back for more Pokemon GO updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
