Rumor: Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Could Be Getting More DLC

One of 2019’s biggest surprises was Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment took many fans by surprise in November 2019 when it launched to critical and commercial success, marrying Metroidvania style level design with some light action mechanics influenced by FromSoftware’s Dark Souls series while balancing a fresh Star Wars story set before the events of Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope. While many fans were sad to see the credits roll after the 12-15 hour campaign came to an end, rumor has it that Respawn Entertainment is gearing up to support the game with more DLC content soon.

Earlier this year Respawn Entertainment released a free update for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order that added many fan requested features such as a New Game Plus mode and combat challenge arenas, allowing players to test their Jedi skills. Since then, Respawn has not given any indication of whether fans can expect more from Star Wars Jedi, with the developer presumably already moving ahead with production on the game’s sequel. As recent years have proven, however, with the likes of Borderlands 2, just because the sequel is in development does not entirely mean the original game cannot receive any DLC to tie the games together, which may be what Respawn Entertainment and EA are planning.

The rumor comes from a deleted tweet from ResetEra moderator Shinobi602, who has correctly leaked information regarding numerous games in the past, including characters who have previously been revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In the tweet, Shinobi602 responds to another Twitter user stating “Indeed, ones I intend to replay at least once more. Plus more content coming down the pipe for DOOM and Jedi Fallen Order.”

While we don’t have the full context for the conversation, it’s clear what Shinobi602 is getting at. While Doom Eternal already has two campaign expansions announced, with The Ancient Gods Part One launching on October 20th, it would seem that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is going to be receiving new content as well soon, whether it will be story focused or not is anybody’s guess though.

While it seems strange that EA and Respawn might still have intentions on continuing support for the last Star Wars game after the release of Star Wars: Squadrons just earlier this week, DICE and EA continued support for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 up until April of this year, ending almost 3 years of consistent content updates. This means that EA wanting to continue support for multiple Star Wars games is something the publisher has planned for a while now, with Star Wars: Squadrons‘ placement as a budget title also making EA possibly more eager to motivate players who haven’t picked Star Wars Jedi up in the year since its release to purchase the title thanks to the new content.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game is also planned to release on Google Stadia at some point in 2020.
