Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Confirms No More Heroes and Bomberman Mii Costume DLC

With the announcement of a new DLC fighter and a dynamic stage based on Minecraft coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, many Super Smash Bros. fans are looking forward to what’s coming. However, Nintendo didn’t stop at just the announcement of a new fighter and stage, as there’s a lot of additional Super Smash Bros. Ultimate content on the horizon for fans to enjoy.

As previously mentioned, Nintendo announced Steve from Minecraft as the newest DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While there was excitement online for this reveal, those fans those who were expecting a different character from a different gaming franchise are also getting additional content. Nintendo has provided a means for players to enjoy certain characters through Mii costumes, even if they aren’t playable in the main game.

In addition to the six previous DLC characters and stage, Nintendo has also included new Mii fighter costume DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Many of these new costumes in the upcoming release are based on Minecraft, including a Creeper costume, Pig costume, and Diamond Armor costume. However, that’s not all.

Mii costumes based on various other gaming franchises will also make their way into the game. This includes Gil, the main character from The Tower of Druaga; Travis Touchdown, the main character from cult-classic game series No More Heroes, and multiple colors of Bomberman from the Bomberman series. All of these characters will be available to play as Mii Brawlers and Swordfighters alongside the release of the next DLC pack on October 13, 2020.

For fans of video games across the board, it’s good to see that Nintendo has developed a way to include characters in Super Smash Bros. without making them into official characters. However, there will certainly be some fans who are upset their favorite characters are relegated to Mii costumes, especially for a character like Travis Touchdown who many may have wanted to see as an actual playable character given the upcoming release of No More Heroes 3 on Switch.

Then again, this allows Nintendo to still feature these characters within the Smash Bros. universe. As a series, Super Smash Bros. is meant to be a celebration of video games, so to have these characters still be in the game in some capacity is a nice gesture. Given how Xbox recently said it wants Master Chief to be in the game, there’s still a chance he may get a Mii costume even if he is not the next playable character.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for Nintendo Switch.
