Unfortunately, Mojang didn’t reveal everything about the upcoming Howling Peaks DLC. However, in terms of size, it is expected to be as huge as the Jungle Awakens and Creeping Winter updates, that brought new levels, mobs, and more to Minecraft Dungeons. However, one thing that has been confirmed at yesterday’s event is the inclusion of a new boss called the Tempest Golem. Although the Tempest Golem was not showcased in full, the artworks that have been released so far highly suggests that the Tempest Golem will be a strong and powerful foe. It is expected that the new boss will be given powerful abilities and brutal melee attacks given that its hand is a vicious sword. Other mobs that are expected to be included in Howling Peaks are the Ravager, Windcaller, Goat, and two unnamed illagers.

Moreover, Howling Peaks will also feature the most diverse difficulty options in Minecraft Dungeons as of yet. According to Mojang, the update will include 20 new difficulties past Apocalypse VII, which will definitely add a new layer of challenge to players. As far as the release date is concerned, Howling Peaks is scheduled to launch sometime in December, though the exact date is still being kept under wraps. At the moment, the price of Howling Peaks is still a mystery, but it is expected to be $5.99 similar to previous DLCs.

Lastly, one of the biggest announcements made for Minecraft Dungeons during the Minecraft Live event is cross-platform play. Ever since the release of Minecraft Dungeons early this year, fans have wondered whether a crossplay feature will ever come to the game. Now, fans won’t have to wonder anymore, given that Mojang confirmed this feature saying that it wanted players to be able to play Minecraft Dungeons regardless of which platform the player owns.

It is worth noting that the crossplay feature will be added as a free update in November, though Mojang still has not specified the exact date. Of course, given Minecraft Dungeons‘ growing popularity, the ability to play with friends on other consoles would certainly bring more players to the game. Apart from crossplay, the free update releasing in November will also introduce some changes that will bring more balance to the game, some quality-of-life improvements, and several bug fixes.

Although Mojang didn’t really go into detail as to what’s next for Minecraft Dungeons after the Howling Peaks DLC, fans can rest easy that more updates and expansions will be released in the future. Of course, given that Howling Peaks is set to release in December, it is likely that this will be the final expansion for 2020, which means that the next huge update will probably be released in early 2021. Moreover, the inclusion of a cross-play functionality in Minecraft Dungeons is expected to bring in more players to the game, which is a good enough reason for Mojang to continue supporting the game with new content in the foreseeable future.

Minecraft Dungeons is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
