With the Xbox Series X set to release on November 10, it seems all systems are go for the promotional team over at Microsoft, which has been releasing fun promotional content for the next-generation of Xbox hardware. Not only has the major console manufacturer poked fun as Sony’s chaotic PS5 pre-order fiasco, but it also made several jokes about the PlayStation’s complicated backward compatibility as well.
The company’s most recent Twitter post continues this trend of light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek promotional content, with Xbox releasing an ASMR mindfulness guide for video game enthusiasts. The short video is actually a pretty funny parody of the relaxation focused YouTube genre, crossing it over with several references to video game culture.
The social media post claims that its a tutorial level for relaxing breathing exercises, telling viewers that the completion of the introduction will award them with “the calmness perk.” It reminds players to come and watch the video if they’re getting frustrated with a certain mission or forgot to save their game, asking them to find a secluded spot “away from NPCs and any mobs you might aggro on accident.” What follows is a genuinely very funny riff on relaxing, mindfulness videos, complete with a calming water background, deep breathing exercises, and a reminder for viewers to remove their “powered exoskeleton” if they’re wearing one.
The end of the video comes complete with a rare Xbox achievement, with the viewer bagging the “calm mind” trophy for completing their mindfulness course. It’s yet another hilarious example of the more informal style Microsoft is pursuing in its promotional push for the Series X on Twitter, once again doubling down on its desire to foster a player-friendly community for its users. When measured against Sony’s more formal strategy, it’ll be interesting to see how Xbox‘s desire to interact with its fanbase affects the launch of the Series X. No doubt its tweets and bigger presence on social media have won the company over a lot of new fans in recent weeks.
It’s not long now until the Series X and S launch, with both consoles releasing on November 10. Although the console’s release has been somewhat hindered by the delay of Halo Infinite which was likely a big system seller for the company, the console is still sure to shift big numbers, with its impressive specs enticing millions. The Series S will also likely do a lot to show players that Microsoft is serious about its player-friendly focus, with the cheaper next-gen alternative allowing players to get stuck into the future of the industry for $299.
The Xbox Series X and S will be available on November 10.
