Crysis Remastered was highly anticipated by fans as the original game was critically acclaimed and considered to be the pinnacle of the first-person shooter genre when it was released in 2007. Since the release of the original Crysis, a lot has changed in the gaming industry and this was evident when Crysis Remastered received middling reviews when it was released this year. With that said, the team behind the remaster is still working on improving the remaster. Despite these efforts, it seems that the latest update is causing a bug.
The visuals in Crysis Remastered are significantly improved and have introduced ray tracing, new particle effects, and 8K compatibility. However, some of the gameplay elements have been critiqued. The new update was set to fix some of these gameplay issues while improving CPU usage but it has not been entirely successful. While the update has brought about some positive change, there are now issues with how players interact with vegetation as it is frozen still.
YouTuber John Papadopoulos uploaded an illustration of the issues with vegetation and it is clear that whether a player shoots or moves through scenery it will not respond. Naturally, this will take players out of the immersive first-person shooter experience and many feel it is disappointing that the game is not working in the way that they desire. On top of this, many have noted that the update to Crysis Remastered did not improve the title’s CPU use. Despite this, some positives have come from this update.
Crytek has removed the UI from the Armor mode and has also given players more movement that ultimately improves the experience. There have also been tweaks to speed mode which now lasts for a shorter period of time and as a result is similar to the original title in the way it operates. Also, players can crouch once like they did in the original and they can now quick-throw grenades. Many will be pleased that these features, which improve the gameplay, have been implemented. However, the disappointing addition of frozen scenery adds to a list of bugs in Crysis Remastered.
For many Crysis Remastered was a significant release, and fans are disappointed at the bugs that have occurred in the game. With more updates to come, the team behind the game will undoubtedly resolve the issue but some fans will want even more significant work put into the game to get it to meet its potential.
Crysis Remastered is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
