The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will kick off soon for those on PS4 that have pre-ordered the new game. And while some fans may be content simply waiting for the Black Ops Cold War release date on November 13, Activision has sweetened the pot by announcing some goodies for those who participate in the beta.
First and foremost, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players that participate in the beta and managed to reach level 10 will unlock a special SMG weapon blueprint that they can use on launch day. The Mutual Animosity weapon blueprint looks pretty sleek, and like other weapon blueprints, it will allow players to utilize attachments that they haven’t actually unlocked. Having a fully-kitted gun right away may give players an advantage in the early days of Black Ops Cold War‘s multiplayer, so fans should definitely consider making an effort to hit level 10 while the beta is live.
In the meantime, Black Ops Cold War beta participants can also unlock content for Call of Duty Mobile as well. As long as players have their Activision account linked, playing the Black Ops Cold War beta will unlock Russell Adler as a playable character in Call of Duty Mobile. Russell Adler is a new character in Black Ops Cold War, and he will actually be one of the playable operators in Black Ops Cold War‘s multiplayer as well as the Zombies mode.
Those who aren’t on PS4 don’t have to worry about missing out on the Mutual Animosity weapon blueprint or getting Russel Adler in Call of Duty Mobile. The Black Ops Cold War beta will open up to all PS4 players on October 12, and then those that pre-ordered on PC or Xbox One can join in on October 15. Then on October 17, the Black Ops Cold War beta will be open across all platforms, regardless of whether one pre-ordered it or not. This way, everyone will have the chance to unlock the Mutual Animosity SMG weapon blueprint if they so desire.
In the meantime, fans are still waiting to learn some more specific details as to what the Black Ops Cold War beta will entail. For example, the Black Ops Cold War beta maps have yet to be announced. However, Activision has revealed the Black Ops Cold War beta game modes, which will consist of Team Deathmatch, Domination, VIP Escort, Kill Confirmed, Combined Arms, and Fireteam: Dirty Bomb.
The Black Ops Cold War beta will prove to be hugely important for the game’s early days, as Treyarch will take information it gains from this and apply it to full game’s multiplayer component. It has already taken Black Ops Cold War alpha feedback into account with the beta, so it will be interesting to see what fans think when things get started later this week.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches November 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
