Metal Gear’s Solid Snake is one of gaming’s best written heroes, who has defeated some of gaming’s best written villains. Snake may be a force to be reckoned with in his own in-game universe, but how would he fare against gaming’s all-time most legendary baddies.
Some of these villains don’t compare anywhere to some of the most dangerous Metal Gears and super soldiers Solid Snake has fought, while others would present a challenge to even the most driven and militaristic patriot.
10 Defeat: Bowser
The fire breathing, menacing, conniving Koopa-King himself. Bowser has been a constant thorn in Mario’s and the Mushroom Kingdoms side, this would not be the case if they had Solid Snake at their disposal.
While Bowsers fire breathing, protective shell, and sheer strength would surely present a challenge to Solid Snake, these are factors that he could use some of his more nifty gadgets to overcome. Solid Snake would be able to liquidate this threat, once and for all.
9 Lose To: Sephiroth
Solid Snake has experience taking down some of the worlds most dangerous weapons and genetically modified soldiers. For this reason it would be natural to assume that he would have an advantage against genetically modified super soldier Sephiroth, this would not be the case.
Sephiroth has excelled his limits and expectations, and has become a demi-god in his own right. The sheer power and ability this antagonist possesses, is unlike anything else Snake has experienced before. While Sephiroth may be a complex, and even emotionally unstable character, he is not to be trifled with.
8 Defeat: Eredin Breacc Glas
Eredin, the King of the Wild Hunt, is an incredibly imposing elf with a dark and foreboding army at his fingertips. Eredin is commonly mistaken for a kind of demon, or even an evil God.
This is not the case, underneath all of that armor, he is just another, everyday elf, an elf that can bleed, and as everyone’s favorite witcher demonstrated, an elf that can be killed. This would prevent very little challenge for Snake.
7 Lose T0: Zeus
Solid Snake may be able to defeat rumored God’s, but a real God may be too much of a tall order. Zeus being the God of God’s would quickly spell the end for Solid Snake.
While Snake has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, there is no amount of stealth, weapons, or tools that can take down a deity.
6 Defeat: Dr. Robotnik
Dr. Ivo Robotnik is one evil dude. So evil that if the cartoonish design was replaced with something more realistic and gritty, Eggman would fit in perfectly as a Metal Gear villain.
The ambitions, experiments, and lack of remorse are all characteristics Snake has faced in previous in-game foes. Robotniks tactics would also come as very familiar. Fighting the bad Doctor would just be another day at the office for Solid Snake.
5 Lose To: Albert Wesker
Speaking of villains that would fit right into the Metal Gear Universe, Albert Wesker is top material. A former virologist driven mad by his research and given superhuman powers from one of his discoveries, this evil scientist would seem like someone right up Snakes alley.
While the modus operandi may be similar to other villains Snake has crossed paths with, the powers are not. Wesker could virtually be considered a God, and there are very few, if any resources, Snake could produce to take care of such a threat.
4 Defeat: The Joker
The Joker may be the world’s most recognizable villain. Though fame does not necessarily mean success, virtually always being bested by Batman, this poor guy just can’t catch a break.
He would not fare much better against Solid Snake, a super soldier possessing many similar gadgets to the caped crusader. This encounter would be an all to familiar loss for Gotham’s most tragic mental patient.
3 Lose To: Alduin
To be frank, this would not be a fair line up from the get-go. As per prophecy, there is only one force that can stop Alduin, and that would be the Dragonborn. Solid Snake may be many things, but Dragonborn he is not.
Lore and prophecy aside, even assuming Snake had a theoretical chance to harm Alduin, this would still be a fight he would lose. The World Eater is not a force to be reckoned with.
2 Defeat: The Illusive Man
The secondary antagonist of a very complicated series. The Illusive Man is a very powerful individual, though all of this power is financial and political. In a one on one showdown against Snake, this well motivated and at times convincing baddie would not last very long.
1 Lose To: Icon of Sin
This baddy requires the big guns, and not the kind that Snake possess. Solid Snake has faced his fair share of daunting enemies and weapons. though none of them truly compare to this colossal Hellspawn.
The Doom Slayer himself could only defeat this specific enemy with a very special dagger, if it weren’t for that, humanity would have been doomed. Snake himself could not hope to even come close to taking down this behemoth, mostly due to a lacking inventory and his lack of true superhuman abilities.
