Many fans are looking forward to the release of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity after the surprise announcement last month. The Nintendo Direct announcement seemed to come out of the blue, but since then, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have been giving fans more glimpses into that the upcoming Breath of the Wild prequel entails.
Nintendo has been showcasing many of the features that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will have, including gameplay of the playable Champions such as Daruk. Nintendo and Koei Tecmo continue to work together to show off more of the game as the release date draws steadily closer, and the recent Nintendo Treehouse Live event displayed the Hyrule Champion Urbosa in action.
Until this Treehouse Live event, all fans had seen of Urbosa’s gameplay were screenshots released by Nintendo. Now, players have the extended Urbosa gameplay as she fights off members of the Yiga clan in Gerudo Town. In the brief pre-battle conversation between her and Zelda, Urbosa claims that the princess and Link are in this mess because of her, and the full extent of the situation will likely be explained when the full game comes out in November. The commentators also said that this game will give more insight to Urbosa and Zelda’s relationship as well as the connection between Urbosa and Zelda’s late mother.
In the gameplay footage, Urbosa is shown to have lightning attacks similar to the blessing she bestows on Link in Breath of the Wild after he clears the Divine Beast Vah Naboris. She has the unique ability to charge up lightning, which can be monitored by observing a gauge in the top left of the player’s screen. With this charged lightning, players can empower Urbosa’s attacks and allow her to deal more damage. Urbosa, like the other champions, has access to the main four Sheikah Slate runes and utilizes the Stasis and Bomb ability throughout the video.
The footage also allowed players to get a good look at Gerudo Town, and after finding a Korok hiding in one of the town’s alleys, the players get to look at some of the stores as well. These sneak peeks allow players to see more of the game before it is released. Many fans are excited about what they’ve been shown so far, and with over a month left until the game is available, many are curious to see what else Nintendo will reveal about Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will release for Nintendo Switch on November 20th.
