Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory Demo Details Leaked | Game Rant

Square Enix revealed that Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory would be getting a playable demo back during the 2020 Tokyo Game Show, but it didn’t share many details about the project outside of that. The developer only revealed that the demo would release sometime in mid-October and that it currently only had plans to release it in Japan — though, it’s considering a Western release as well.

Now, more details concerning the Melody of Memory demo have come out, but Square Enix wasn’t the one to release the information. It looks like Microsoft accidentally published the Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory demo page earlier than it was supposed to on its Xbox site. The company has since taken the page down, but not before fans managed to see it and learn its new information.

One fan going by the Twitter handle, ALumia_Italia managed to capture proof of the page’s existence through a screenshot. According to the page, the demo will have six songs in total. There will be four Field Battle Music Stages and 2 Co-Op Music Stages. Field Battle Music Stages are levels players can expect to play in World Tour Mode, or Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory‘s story mode. The Co-Op stages are self-explanatory.

The page also claims that players will not be able to transfer their data from the demo into the full game. So, any achievements earned in the demo will have to be reacquired. This is somewhat expected considering the Field Battle Music Stages are a part of Melody of Memory‘s story mode.

On another note, the page was posted to the English version of Microsoft’s Xbox site. Since a page for the Japanese version of the demo already existed, the fact that Microsoft posted an English version likely means that Square Enix decided that it will release the demo in Western territories after all.

Sadly, there’s still no information on exactly when the Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory demo will release in Japan or the West. Since the release window is mid-October, though, and the first week of the month has already gone by, more information regarding the demo should be arriving within the next few days, especially since Microsoft posted the demo page.

When the demo does arrive, fans can expect it to play like a normal Kingdom Hearts game. Square Enix had eSports player Kasumi Ashizawa test it during the Tokyo Game Show, and he claimed that the game’s controls weren’t that different from a regular Kingdom Hearts title.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory releases November 13 for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
