Remnant From The Ashes: 10 Best Weapon Mods Beginners Should Try To Get ASAP

Thanks to Remnant: From The Ashes, Soulslike fans get a more action-packed experience in a unique setting. After all, Remnant takes place on an Earth overtaken by an alien species called the Root. Moreover, in true action game fashion, players can use a plethora of guns and melee weapons to bring the fight back to the tree-like Root. Thankfully, players can rely on Traits and Weapon Mods to diversify their loadout and character specialties.

However, beginners might feel overwhelmed at the multitude of weapon mods in the game. After all, just which ones should they use to maximize their experience? Players new to Remnant should set their sights on a few particular weapon mods that can help them shape their introductory builds.

Take note, none of the weapon mods below are exclusive to special weapons. Rather, all of these are craftable, with most of them unlocked after defeating certain side bosses.

10 Flicker Cloak

Beginners in Remnant would easily understand the need to master dodge and evasion after their first few deaths. Enemies can be merciless when they catch them off-guard. Thanks to Flicker Cloak, new players can get a shield valued at 50-percent of their Max Health. Moreover, the Weapon Mod not only reduces incoming damage but also prevents staggering.

Additionally, while the cloak lasts for 15 seconds, it also has a 10-second cooldown. This means players, if quick enough, can recharge Flicker Cloak quickly and get its benefits as soon as it’s ready for reactivation. And in a game as harsh as Remnant, all shields count.

9 Howler’s Immunity

Players looking for a defensive boost would appreciate Howler’s Immunity. With this Weapon Mod, players release a 20-meter aura that reduces incoming damage to allies inside Howler’s Immunity by 15 percent. This damage reduction might not seem like much, but Howler’s Immunity lasts for 30 seconds. Moreover, since the aura moves with the player, Howler’s Immunity may be just what melee fighters or tanks need to soak up all that immense damage.

Moreover, Howler’s Immunity can reduce up to 25 percent of incoming damage, depending on the weapon level. As such, players with a knack for melee would love the versatility Howler’s Immunity presents.

8 Veil Of The Black Tear

Veil of the Black Tear serves as one of the reasons why players should make an effort to eliminate side bosses. With Veil of the Black Tear, players can summon a 5-meter impenetrable energy field. This field lasts 10 seconds, and all heroes inside the field can shoot enemies outside of it. This incredible ability can easily become a life-changer in difficult boss battles.

However, players who want to maximize the Veil of the Black Tear should take note of some specifics. For instance, weapon level does increase its field’s overall duration. Interestingly, the Veil can’t block beam attacks but it can work well against projectiles and explosives.

7 Blink Token

Dodging remains an essential component when trying to survive against Remnant‘s relentless foes. Thankfully, Blink Token enables players to have that same edge when facing multiple opponents. With Blink Token, players “blink” forward up to 13 meters. Moreover, their landing ends with a shockwave that deals Shock damage within 3 meters. This ability becomes a great way of escaping from multiple foes. Likewise, tanks would love the added shockwave as they attack an enemy.

Like other Weapon Mods, its efficacy improves with the weapon’s level. Unfortunately, players can’t teleport through objects and enemies.

6 Mender’s Aura

Players in a pinch against brutal bosses would want to retreat and restore some of their health. Unfortunately, they can’t exactly do their healing in the middle of battle. With Mender’s Aura, players within a 2.3-meter healing pool can get 10 HP per second for 10 seconds. This healing might not seem much at first. However, this healing can easily become a saving grace in the long run.

Moreover, the equipped weapon’s level affects the duration of the healing, while healing efficiency affects health regeneration. As such, players who invest in crafting their items can maximize Mender’s Aura in their chosen weapons.

5 Song Of Swords

Fan-favorite Song of Swords proves that the more damage an attack has, the more players will rely on it. Thanks to this Weapon Mod, players can cast a 25-meter aura that increases the overall damage output of their entire party for 10-percent. Moreover, this amazing weapon mod does last 30 seconds.

However, players need to remember that they need to stand inside Song of Swords to reap its benefits. As such, players who can proc both Song of Swords and Veil of the Black Tear might want to maximize their overall defensive and offensive opportunity.

4 Hunter’s Mark

Getting a critical hit is always a great feeling in any game. As such, efficient DPS builds maximize crit chance to maximize damage output. In Remnant, Hunter’s Mark serves as a great addition for new players who want to make crit-based builds. This weapon mod gives players a 10 percent crit chance boost against enemies within 35 meters of the player.

Additionally, Hunter’s Mark can have a Crit Chance boost of up to 20 percent with a higher-level weapon. As such, Hunter’s Mark becomes a notable weapon mod choice — especially for players who want to be more on the offensive.

3 Breath Of The Desert

In Remnant, every shot counts. As such, fans might have mixed feelings when equipped with Breath of the Desert. On the one hand, this weapon mod does release seven enemy-seeking projectiles that hit enemies within 20-meters for Radiation damage. Moreover, its three charges do make it extremely useful when surrounded by mobs.

However, some players might complain about the rather “weak” damage of Breath of the Desert, which other damage-based Mods can easily overshadow. Granted, Breath of the Desert’s damage does seem like a letdown. However, players should also consider how Breath of the Desert guarantees hits thanks to its projectiles’ target-seeking nature.

2 Hot Shot

Unlike other Weapon Mods in Remnant, Hot Shot remains quite a straightforward choice. Thanks to Hot Shot, its equipped weapon will receive burning ammunition once triggered. Moreover, this benefit means enemies receive boosted Fire damage and the Burning effect, which deals 100 damage over 10 seconds. Despite the 15-second charge time, Hot Shot easily becomes a recommended weapon in any player’s arsenal.

Moreover, players with higher-level weapons can increase Burning Fire damage. Additionally, the type of weapon increases the chance of the Burning effect based on fire rate, with Shotguns being the best bet while Assault Rifles offer only 20 percent. Regardless of these nuances, more aggressive/DPS-type players would greatly benefit from Hot Shot.

1 Rattle Weed

Fan-favorite Rattle Weed brings the fight back to the Root. This weapon mod summons a Rattle Weed that draws in aggro from enemies up to 10-meters away from it. As such, players can pulverize enemies attacking Rattle Weed within its 10-second window or while its 200 Health lasts. These factors might not seem much, but a Rattle Weed can distract irritating mobs for players and parties to focus on bosses.

Moreover, weapon level can increase the overall range of Rattle Weed’s aggressiveness as well as its overall health. Players who upgrade their favorite weapons can reap lasting benefits from Rattle Weed and eliminate most mobs while they’re distracted.
