Announced today through an action-packed teaser, NetherRealm revealed that Mortal Kombat 11 will be getting some brand new additions to its roster in the next few months. Included in the pack is Mileena, Rain, and Rambo, with the trio joining the game under the banner of Kombat Pack 2, which will be purchasable on its own or within the newly revealed Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate Edition.
However, the trailer did leave one question in the minds of those who viewed it, with the prevailing mystery in the comments surrounding who on earth pulled off such an incredible impression of Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo. Well, it turns out that wasn’t an impression at all, with Ed Boon confirming on Twitter that the Hollywood star reprised his role for Mortal Kombat 11.
Putting it very simply on Twitter, Boon acknowledged that “yes, it’s Stallone’s voice.” Considering that Arnold Schwarzenegger unfortunately didn’t provide voice work for Mortal Kombat 11, fans were curious to know if the team managed to convince Stallone to step inside the booth and bring his iconic Rambo portrayal to life. The character already looks incredibly close to Stallone regardless, with the fighter’s appearance seemingly harkening back to his original look in the franchise’s debut entry, Rambo: First Blood. With such a distinctive voice, its yet another example of NetherRealm looking to create the most realistic interpretation of its guest characters as possible.
Rambo joins an already pretty star-studded cast of licensed names who’ve made their way to Mortal Kombat 11. As mentioned before, The Terminator joined the game alongside the release of Terminator: Dark Fate, while RoboCop landed in the recent Aftermath DLC, and Spawn made his debut as the final entrant in the first kombat pack. Rambo makes an excellent final combatant for the roster of guest characters, rounding out the game’s additional content with an iconic movie staple.
Of course, Rambo will likely have a lot of fun moves to play around with seen as he’s had such a lengthy stint on the movie scene. The trailer alone already shows off a powerful heavy machine gun, while a teaser image for Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate Edition sees Rambo brandishing a bow and arrow. It seems likely that the character will have some beefy ranged move to keep foes at bay with, likely making him a formidable opponent with the ability to control the pace of a match. Fans will get a more official grasp on his abilities when the DLC debuts on November 17.
Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate launches on November 17, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
