Artist Creates Resident Evil Movie Reboot Poster With New Cast

The Resident Evil franchise, much like its zombie antagonists, never seems to die. From games to novels to movies, both live-action and CG, the series keeps coming back and fans can’t get seem to get enough. The long-running live-action movie series is getting the reboot treatment, and some folks are already imagining what a promotional poster for the new flick might look like.

It has been a banner year for the horror franchise, with the Resident Evil 3 remake selling several million copies, and a barrage of new details on Resident Evil 8 making waves, all seems to be well on the games side of the equation. On top of this, Capcom and the teams who work on the cinematic side of the franchise have also been busy, with an animated series planned for Netflix, and this reboot of the movie franchise.

The reboot of the RE movie series recently announced its cast, as well as a few details about the plot. The movie will serve as an origin story, retracing the plot of Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil 2. With that knowledge in hand, fans are already dreaming up what an ideal theatrical poster would look like. BossLogic and artist Lito Perezito came up with a poster that puts Claire and Chris front and center, which makes sense as the Redfield siblings feature prominently in the two games the movie focuses on.

The poster is likely to be the first of many fanmade and unofficial pieces of media for the upcoming reboot. While the original movie series, led by actress Milla Jovovich, went off on its own narrative path, by bringing the plot back in line with the video games this reboot is sure to attract more fans of the games. The Netflix animated series is also leaning into the already established canon, as Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is set to feature Leon Kennedy and, once again, Claire Redfield.

The mainline numbered games in the franchise seem to be where Capcom is willing to experiment a bit more. Resident Evil 8 will feature more open environments and a focus on a bit of exploration, something that could look quite different from past games in the franchise. When it comes to these newly announced TV and movie projects, the safe bet is to go with what has already been established in the series’ lengthy history.

Fans will have to wait until 2021 to find out how this reboot stacks up, which is plenty of time to draw all kinds of wonderful fan art in anticipation of the movie’s release.

The Resident Evil reboot is slated for release in 2021.
