The gas cloud in Call of Duty: Warzone is meant as an equalizing force. It not only drives players into a contained area, ensuring that the game’s action stays fresh, but provides a deadly alternative to trying to avoid combat. Call of Duty: Warzone players must constantly move to avoid the gas with only rare instances where risking the damage might ensure a win.
A new bug has been circulating that has taken away the player’s fear of the toxic cloud. Rather than running away, some fans have decided to instead charge into the cloud, relying on this trick to survive. If players can survive the gas in Call of Duty: Warzone match, it gives them a greater chance at winning.
The new trick revolves around using stim shots and a frag grenade. Players must load into the game and play until they find their loadout with the necessary gear. After their loadout is equipped, players simply buy a self revive then grenade their feet allowing it to knock them down. Once they use the self-revive, they will find that they have unlimited stims, allowing them to constantly heal. Stims heal an entire bar of health, which means as long as a player continues to apply them, they can out heal the damage of the toxic gas.
Players are starting to discover the harmful effects of this exploit as they enter the final circle to find no enemies waiting for them. As the circle closes in and eventually kills them, they get a chance to see in the kill-cam where the enemy was hiding. Instead of a sneaky player, they instead discover that the enemy player is simply using a new Call of Duty: Warzone gas glitch to heal as the game ends.
With this glitch in effect, honest players have almost no way to win the game. The player who abuses the exploit could be anywhere on the map, making it nearly impossible to kill them. While not every glitch gets to earn the game-breaking title, many fans believe that this particular bug deserves that award.
Fans are waiting for a hotfix to appear and stop this exploit from ruining matches. While it does not manifest in every game, it is becoming common enough that many players are becoming frustrated. The best thing that the community can do at a time like this is simply reporting the player and bug. With how damaging it can be to the overall game experience, there is a high chance that Activision and Infinity Ward repair the issue faster than normal.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
