Among Us Beta Testing Anonymous Voting, More | Game Rant

After InnerSloth decided to cancel its short-lived Among Us 2 plans, the development team announced it would be focusing all new development on the suddenly popular mega-hit, Among Us. Now, owners of the game can opt into the beta updates through Steam and experience some of the updates that InnerSloth has added to the game.

While InnerSloth itself has not made an official announcement regarding the updates added to Among Us, players are discovering new ways to play the game, as well as some accessibility options added to certain tasks. One accessibility option requested by many was colorblind support to help out with the wires task that requires players to connect wires of matching colors. Now, the new update adds different shapes to each wire, helping people who are color blind match the wires more effectively without relying on the wire color.

Other updates that players have discovered in Among Us recently will go a long way to help imposters in certain situations. Players now have a match option to hide votes, this way no one can see who voted for who during each round which can cause imposters to be more aggressive during meetings, and avoid being called out for voting against the groupthink and becoming suspicious.

Lobbies can also change how the taskbar is updated during Among Us matches. Currently, the taskbar is set to the default “Always” setting which means the taskbar updates after a task is completed but that setting can now be switched to “Meetings” and “Never.” If the taskbar is set to “Meetings” this means the taskbar only updates once a meeting is called or a body is found, and the “Never” option hides the taskbar completely so players don’t know if they’re close to winning the game via tasks or not.

Currently, these beta options for Among Us are only available on Steam and haven’t made it to mobile devices just yet. Players looking to access this update can do so by right-clicking Among Us in their Steam library and selecting the Properties option then go to the Betas tab. Players should then select the drop-down menu and select the “public-beta” option to prompt the game to download the beta updates.

During a Twitch stream, InnerSloth has said it would be adding other new features to Among Us, specifically for the players who die during the game. InnerSloth noticed that once a player dies, they usually leave lobbies making them assume that playing as a ghost in Among Us is “boring.” InnerSloth programmer Forest Willard and his team have thought of ways to give ghost players more to do after they die, including making those players some kind of guardian angels for the living.

Among Us is available PC and mobile.
